OMG you kids keep it down...

    Daddy's got a hangover.

BTW, found out yesterday I don't need colon surgery. Which means I don't lose a foot of colon and have 400 staples reattach the ends.

So I celebrated by marking a couple thousand brain cells for demolition and taking my liver on a stress test. Oh my head.

  5. hehehe.. i had a bottle of wine last night too :) felt nice and warm ... till i woke up this morning with a pounding headache ... where is the coffeee and asprin!

  6. i was friday night... but its sunday night already :(

  7. I have a sick kid, my wife is overworked and tired, and Comcast just took over my Roadrunner account - my internet went down. The technical help and attitude at Comcast was even less than you'd expect. It was aweful (trust me, I know - I worked tech-sup before, and I know what aweful is). On a good note, I got the furnace in my garage working yesterday, and we bought a new electric garage door opener.

I also discovered that my router is not compatable with Comcast, and so I have to hook one bloody PC up to the cable modem at a time (i.e. no network for me).
To celebrate, I attacked three (3) targets in Ogame last night (600k metal; 300k crystal & 134k Duet) ;) and drank a margarita.

This morning was the first time I was afforded the opportunity to sleep in. In a long time. (were talking months here) But apparently, my son didn't want me to. (rats)

So, today I'm going to install a new electric garage-opener (and if Racewiz comes over to help, we'll drink margaritas)

  8. how is it the kids always know this ... geesh, mine are just as bad and if for some odd reason they are both at my mothers for the night or friends, then my mother takes their place and feels the need to call early (i am talking like 7 in the morning) to yack at me!!! and then you answer the phone and she is like, oh did i wake you up! YES !!! YOU DID.. click :)

Mine hasn't done that since he was old enough to understand that if I murdered him where he stood I could claim an insanity defense.

  10. Well...I guess its because
    a) "The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree/you lant corn-you raise corn" (I know what my mom was talking about now)
    and
    b) We know it is all about love, and growing up, and testing boundaries, and all that other cr*p. ;)

But that's okay. I know that there are more times to come (the screaming in the department store, etc).
And I have a plan. I've already saved pictures and marked them as 'date-night' and 'prom-use'.
For instance, when he bring's his grilfriend over for dinner, or his prom-date, etc...I will (conveniently) have on display the the photo when he decided to wear his bike helmet while playing in the sand box (he looks like a 'special' kid. )
And others such as him mowing the lawn completely nekked when he was three with his toy mower (it looks like a lawn mower, but blows bubbles out the side)
    etc...(but enough about the future)

The new garage door motor is in (I started this morning. Around 10 Am I think), and it keeps closing and comes back up
Everytime. Anywhere between several inches to a couple feet.
So - I've tried all the tech-help in the manual, and several ideas came to me. One - how to fix it,
    Two- what to do next.
Soooo.... I stashed #1 in my brain and
#2) I showered and came up here to the computer, and made a margarita (my first) at the stroke of Midnight.
HarK? What do I hear? Alas... 'tis my daughter (who happens to be running a 101 temp) begin to fuss and cry.

...There are a dozen quips that would fit this situation, that sound sarcastic and be mildly humorous; only to be really understood and appreceated by those of us with kids, but since there are plenty of us that do not have kids (heck; the garage-door opener that I removed was prolly older than CrawlingKane) I'll quote the refrain from "Your Dad Did" by John Hiatt

"You love your wife and kids....just like your dad did, just like your dad did..."

    ~PM~

PS - But its all good. Everyday I tell life to "BRING IT ON". I figure I'll either take it head on or I'll use my narrow, slopy shoulders to let whatever is thrown at me to deflect off/run down my back like water off a duck.

    ...at least I hope so...

The pressure sensor is set to low. That's the feature to keep it from crushing puppies and kids.

Should be a little adjustment screw. You should be able to turn it a few times to get it to close and not panic.

Then throw a roll of paper towels under it and adjust it so it just deforms the roll before it goes back up. Or like mine, you set it so that the roll is cleanly cut in two.

Otherwise it is binding in the track and that is a little more difficult to fix.

  12. Thanx for the help -
I was messing with the pressure dial and the rail sensor for a while when I discovered it is the rail itself. I had to get an extension piece, and as the slide reached the end (where the extension is) the rail buckled 'up' a little, then leveled out. The door would stop as it reached the end - then went back up.
At 11:41 PM; having been working on it off and on since 10 AM with a 5 year-old 'helping' me...I was done for the night.
Tomorrow's round two for the wrestleing match... ;)
