  1. altho im a packers fan i was very happy about the super bowl outcome...this team of misfits who at the beginning of the year had nay-sayers everywhere...they kept to the same line every week..."this is the year"..im glad shockey wasn't there and tiki barber..serves him right for being the giants and coughlins biggest naysayer...funny they wouldn't grant him an interview with any of the giants when they made it to the superbowl...ha!

a young team that was able to do what no other more "experienced" team was able to do...shut down brady and make randy moss almost a non-issue...woohoo...how you feeling now pretty boy? huh? huh?...

anywho..it was an excellent game overall...

  2. While I respect the Giants as a team and they did do what everyone said they couldn't do, I still don't like the outcome. I have been so tired of hearing about Mannings this year....Payton this Eli that and don't forget about Archie. While I am neither a Giants or Patriots fan I just wanted to see the Pats go 19-0.

But hats off to NY as their defensive line just totally dominated last night and kept the game close. I agree that overall the game was a very good game too.

  3. This past weekend I saw an incredible outpour of hatred towards all Boston/New England area sports teams. Kind of makes me feel bad for many of the Patriots, people like Teddy Bruschi, a class act guy who's been through a lot of the past few years, and is always looking to help his community. Bruschi and his team played a very good season of football, and all sorts of people spew hatred and disgust at them.

Many people say "The Patriots didn't expect the Giants to even show up", and that's completely false, all of the patriots were, in fact, classy. All season long they always expected a tough game with every team. In the post game interviews they tipped their hats to the Giants, and congratulated them.

It's just incredible to me how ignorant many of the "patriot haters" are. Many people who don't live in this area, don't even know much about the team..except from what the media reports.

It all comes down to the Underdog i suppose, everyone roots for the upset, but in 2002 everyone rooted for the Patriots to beat the Rams (Ironically the patriots were America's team shortly after 9/11), but now because of their recent successes over the last few years, everyone looks to tear them down.

In the end though, that is everyone's right as a sports fan.

  4. c'mon...of course you are going to hear about the mannings...father and two sons in the NFL...sons out surpassing their fathers deeds by tenfold...its a legacy...and if it was any other team than one that you didn't want to win...you may not be so tired of it... ;) that thar is some good breed'n!

hmmm...i suppose the "hatred" comes from the big *...sure...no team is infalable...and if sat down and dissected im sure almost every team deserves the * however...they got caught...you can't fault the players at all...what they do and how they behave is a whole different kind of class than what was shown in the way they handled getting caught...i know i know...dredge up dirty business or "assumed" scandals...i just hate cheaters...but it was only a "violation of league rules" whatever...a spade is a spade...and if you are a player..and aware that something...even a bit sketchy is taking place and make no move to speak out against it or question it...meh...the class that you speak of is a bit diminished in my book...

but again..my book im sure isn't the same book that everyone else reads...like you said...its our right as sports fans to feel passion differently...just this time...my hometown has the superbowl champeeens...with no *

    I hate to pile on here, but what struck me as a sign of what professional football has become was a piece I heard on ESPN Radio early this morning around 12:30am. It went something like this;

    [dramatic music in the backround]
    Defeated
    Imperfect
Golden Opportunity slipped before their grasp.

This is what the 2007 New England Patriots will be remembered as.

60 minutes ago they looked like a team of destiny.

The consumate quarterback playing on the biggest stage....
The harried wide receiver who gets a second chance, and comes up big in the regular season....

Now, the team of destiny...the 19-0 Patriots....are little more than a footnote in NFL history.

And it went on from there for about 4 minutes.

What a bunch of absolute crap. I'm very glad they played it at 12:30 in the morning. And everyone knows I'm a Packers fan. Even if they were in the Super Bowl and beat the Patriots, I wouldn't stand for this sort of garbage on the air. It really made me re-evaluate what I determine "Success" is.

  6. Where i understand the whole "Spygate" issue, but what many people don't understand.. that the "*" doesn't belong with their acheivements of this year, the taping was not done this season. The scandal arised and ended after week one.

  7. ESPN...for true sports fans has turned into the same kind of shit that Entertainment tonight is for people in the entertainment industry..i mean..the real people..not the fluff and fodder you see everywhere...they have become shameless in so much of what they do these days...

yeah...the scandal did happen last year i think....but still...once you have that stigma as a "cheater"...think thats an easy thing to shake?

like i said..thats just me and my thoughts about sports (being a competitor in my youth)..like the whole steriod mess...good god...i don't even want to go there... *shudder*

I am glad I just watch it for the commercials and the occasional good football play.

My kids rooted for the Patriats so me and the wife rooted for the Giants.

It was a good game, thought both teams did a great job of providing great entertainment. Some good plays, good throws so over all a good game.

When it was over, so was the TV. Way it should be!!!

Being a Dolphins fan (through thick and thin..it's called LOYALTY), I'm glad the Giants won. Keeps the 'Fins still the only perfect season all the way through.

It was a great game. Both teams played very well. This was an excellent Superbowl. Kind of like a lot of NASCAR races....it ain't over til it's over.

Yea, the Patriots went undefeated a few more games than the '72 Dolphins, but the Dolphins capped it with a Superbowl win.

When the Giants were playing the Packers in the play-offs I was hoping the Giants would win, as I figured they were the ones that could beat the Patriots.

    Good job New York Giants!

And all the Manning stuff....who cares? Eli did a great job, and was certainly helped by his teammates. Especially the Defense! Wow, they kicked butt!!

Funny how people say stuff about the Mannings, yet Brady is somehow a god and that is just "peachy king". Well, Brady wasn't "god" this time.

  10. I wouldn't quite say he was god, but he does hold the record for most touchdowns ever in a season :D

He's also had 2-3 different receivers each year, and he's still had success.
