DUI checkpoints? Hey, get's a drunk off the streets, even though it is against the Fourth Amendment. But it is cool because it saves people's lives. Won't go farther.

    Wanna bet?

How about a Drivers License check point? How far are we going to let it go?

    http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/news/15754171/detail.html

This going WAY to far. This is COMPLETELY against our Rights.

But remember, most of the warnings I bring up are extreme. But I'm not asking for "your documents".

"You have permission to deny us the right to search this house? This house is on govenrment owned property. You pay taxes on the land, right? Thought so. Step aside, subject."

Bah, they are now just stopping people illegaly to check their papers. It won't go further..........

  2. I bet it reduces traffic fatalities. How many people, that were held up the 5 minutes, drove extra fast because they were late due to the stop?? Must be the new math.

  3. I don't often agree with you Chuck, but I think you're right on there. The reasoning is "we'll find some people doing things they aren't supposed to be doing". Very slippery slope that one, and I honestly don't know how something like this holds up in court.

As you say, why bother with checkpoints, why not just go door to door and make people show you their license, and while you're there already, just take a quick look under the bed to make sure they're not hiding something or doing something they're not supposed to.

Edit: Wow, I suck at English

  4. If it's anything like a DUI checkpoint, more than likely it was well publicized before it took place. If you don't want to be checked, don't take that off ramp. Simple, really.

What happens when we don't have an option of what off ramp to take?
All the government is doing is conditioning the American people to accept to slowing losing their rights. First the DUI checks then the ID checks then door to door. I am a law abiding, tax paying American that loves his country and has a valid drivers License and up to date insurance but I sure as hell do not want to be harassed by the police for any reason even if I have nothing to hide.

Yea, the erosions of our Freedoms and Liberties should be a joyous occasion I suppose.

I think we've had more than enough threads like this in the past few months. There's nothing we posting on this intarweb forum can do about the man trying to bring us down, so lets have some fun. :p And on to something even more totally different..

I didn't go back and look, but how many posts did you do against WoW? And it was just a GAME.

I'm pointing out all of the erosions of our Rights and Freedoms in hopes of educating people and showing them what is happening, so that they, if they wish, speak out and/or do something to curtail these erosions.

Your posts against WoW were to do what?

If my posts are offensive, or seem too over the top, then tell me to quit.

I will, and won't be offended.

I don't think Hamma is saying they are offensive Chuk--he is just saying that the fact of the matter is blowing the alarm horn all the time is beginning to make people irritated with the bugler and not the reason for the alarm.

Your message is one you are passionate about and many agree with you. They are just saying they want to also enjoy life and the limited freedoms they have right now. In all honesty, I think many Americans are beginning to feel the way you do about a lot of these things. Oppressive taxation, burdensome laws that pry into our personal lives, a Congress out of touch with it's people, etc.

I would actually suggest you start a blog--you have much to write about and I think you would enjoy running a blog where more people can interact more with your ideas.

The key is never to stop being passionate about something that is important to you, which the message of individual freedom is to you, and as you say, should be to all of us.

Mani pretty much hit the nail on the head there ;)
Indeed! I for one would read it. ;) If its something you want to do and need a hand with it let me know, I've setup several.

And my posts about wow are to try and get people to quit playing a game that in my opinion have ruined and tarnished the gaming industry for good. That is something I am passionate about being a gamer. :) It isn't just games to me, otherwise I wouldn't be here - and neither would you! :D
