Bungie working on MMOFPS

Interesting.. I know that they had tossed an idea like this around somewhere in the middle of the Halo series development.. In fact, before Microsoft bought Bungie out to make Halo an XBox only game, it was going to be a 3rd person shooter, with a persistent world multiplayer concept. For a variety of reasons that fell apart, not the least of which was acquisition by Microsoft.

I've heard tell of a possible Call of Duty style MMOFPS as well, and while I'm not advocating a ton of competition to overrun Planetside, I think it would be great if this sparks lots of competition and we get a truly great MMOFPS down the line and the genre gets the recognition as the future of shooters it deserves.

So with Bungie, maybe the Call of Duty franchise, Planetside Next, Line of Defense It should be an interesting year or so as details and games start to come to light..

Planetside had BFRs, crappy caverns in place of actual urban combat, and ridiculous out of place alien weapons; but I've got every confidence they'll right the wrongs of their past experience and deliver a great game.

I've yet to see Bungie disappoint me in anything they've released

 

They've already stated their intent to make games for the PC and Mac again, and without Microsoft's control, they don't have to make anything exclusive to the XBox anymore if they don't want to.
