If this had been Bush's first term in office, I am pretty sure that relief (both money and manpower) would have been there in about 30 seconds.

And I don't care what you think about him, but the New Orleans Mayor is dead on. PLEASE! Politicians should NOT be using this as a grandstand for their views and opinions. Use some tact. Even Castro resisted to comment on the state of affairs in the Southeast by simply saying, "It is not fair to kick around an adversary when they have this to look at."

Christ, if a Commie can resist it, why can't our Politicians?

  2. Where are u getting your info?

Where are you getting your information Koaz?
You might want to read a little more before you make blind accusations.

Many countries have already offered aid in different forms.
    Austrailia
    Japan
    Saudi Arabia
    Venezeula
    Germany
    Russia
    Dominica
Just to name a few. Thats where tempers start to flare. Uninformed iinformation flying around. We can just do everything on our emotions.
That will get us now where.
    Rely on the TRUTH

  3. Just give money to the red cross. Probably the most useful thing you can do. People always feel like they should give stuff, but stuff costs money to get there and it's not always the stuff they need. Just give money and they can buy the things they need.

Also check with your employer, alot of them have donation matching programs up to a certain dollar amount. We are getting our family to give us the money and then my wife is donating because her company will match up to like $500.

  4. Well Zab the fact we help out so many and just a few step up?
I'd expect even someone like Kenya to send one man to help pick stuff up.

I applaud those that are doing something, don't get me wrong.

Many on that list are ones that I'd expect to help right off the bat - England, Australia, Japan. Why? Because they've stuck the tough times out with us. The others just hold their hands out and turn backs when we extend ours - most of the time. These were not blind accusations but rather ones out of frustration and heartbrokened grief over what the city of NO has become.

My grandfather helped design the levees there when he was in Army Corps of Engineers.

Some of my cousins evacuated early and are staying with family. They're fortunate that they have two changes of clothes, and a place to sleep with clean drinking water. It's been difficult for them because they have no access to their own money because they used a local bank which is currently under water, so they have to rely on the good nature of everyone else. Many of their neighbors who stayed behind had to be rescued off of their rooftops. Their home is underwater, they cannot return...not only because of the water, but because of the violent crime. We're sending money.

One of my cousins is missing. We're hoping he was rescued and just hasn't been able to get in touch with anyone yet.

The place I spent most of my summers as a child, where my grandparen'ts lived. It was the one place that seemed like home to me, with all the moving around we did in the military. We used to fish the bayou and run around in the woods there on big adventures. LaCombe, LA is now wiped off the face of the earth. Gone. I can't believe it. I'm sad.

    Queen;

LaCombe will never be wiped off the face of the earth. With your memories and the memories of the hundreds and thousands of people, that place will never die. Remember in your heart all of the joy the place brought you. Something that is held onto with love is never forgotten.

  14. I talked to na HPD (Houston Police officer) that I live next door to he told me he just got off a 17 hr shift down at the Astrodome.

Told me some stuff that's not being shown on the news.

40+ Volunteers cars were broken into and some were flat out stole.
80+ confiscated guns, inside the Astrodome
    1 Abducted Child
    3+ Rapes
Countless Crack Cocain and other illegal drugs confiscated

Guess, they dont have, no shoes, toys, clothes, Homes, food, But dammm they have the need to keep them guns and drugs flowing

Heard on the radio this morning , the good ole governor of Florida bush's brother said something like we got hit by 4 hurricanes last year , about time others get caught up :(

  17. normally i keep y nose out of these thing but man i mean. This seemes to have turned out to be a thing that bashes bush and critizing him isntead of having a heart for the ppl that were and are still down there. I mean i might not like the man and all the things he does but I care more about the ppl down there then I would to bash alot of the things that he does. I mean alot of the media isnt even telling the whole story, bush sent a legal memorandiem down to teh governors office 3 days before it hit ask her to let the Feds come in and take over the evac and she told that that they could take care of it. Also after the hurricane hit , the next Teusday he asked to come in and take over and she STILL said she needed 24 hour to see if they could handle it or not. I mean hell the leevees (sp?) were breaking and chaos was running a muck and she still didnt want to let him come in and help. I geuss I said all of that to say this, Instead of bashing our president why dont be bash our polotical system where both parties are to stubborn to work together and arnt willing to work with each other to help us all out. To me that is the biggest tradegy , that this could have turned out so much better if the federal goverment had the ability to get in soon but both the Demicrats and republican were to darn stubborn to work together. Thats all i can think of atm because alot of this is still frustratng and i know im starting to ramble on now , more once i can get my mind focused on a conciece(sp?) reply.

    :ugh:

  19. Agreed Yostin :)

In this time, everyone is trying to "blame" everyone else, instead of looking for a way to help. Alot of things make me mad, you have the goverment setting up investigation commities to see who is to blame, omg.... lets spend more money that maybe we could better use to down in florida on something as assanine as that. so we did not look at the levies, well should we have, YES, but it is in the past. lets move on and learn.

I do not honestly think that anyone, other than the people actually down there, needing help, or trying to help, can fanthom the actual scope of this disaster. And it is a natural disaster, it is not anything anyone could of EVER planned for, not amount of planning is ever going to be enough for something like this. look at the all of the people that are displaced. that have absolutly nothing. whatever they have on is it. whatever they could carry is it. that is all they have left in this world.

you have the media saying this or that, but you dont see them down there. you dont hear their reporters saying things, or blaming people, their reporters more than anything just want to see more help. but then they have to take it and twist it.

this is a natural diaster. it something that you train for, but until it really happens you cant imagine what will be thrown at you. No amount of training is ever enough. you can not ever anitcipate everything that could happen.

anywho.. i agree yostin, everyone needs to quit blaming eachother or themselves and just @#%$ing work together. toss some of them congress men out there, and i really wish that people like them "movie" stars would leave the cameras at the door. or ask the cameras to respect that they are trying to help out if they truely are, instead of using this for publicity.
