Those clouds may blow over. You never know. :)

I'm excited about tonight. I'm going to pull my sleeping kids out of bed and sneak down to the end of the street where there's a clearing in the trees. My mother and father in law may even come with us. :)

  6. Unfortunately, my area has too much light pollution for me to see much of anything... the joys of living in the middle of a city!

If I didn't have to wake up earlyish to go to a road-rally luncheon, I'd probably drive out to the country to look, but... oh well.

I'll still be around in 30 years.

  7. its cool!!!!!!!!!!

It was beautiful. We had pillows and sleeping bags and we laid out under the sky. Bright balls of fire with long tails shot across. There were some lights and lots of trees where we were but it was still wonderful to see so many beautiful meteors. I'll remember this forever.

My 4-year-old son was with me and he named the stars and planets for me. He siad "There's cucumber. There's pop tart. Look, there's rice. Over there is mango. There's Pluto. It's the smallest planet and it has no air. There's Jupiter..."

I was amazed he actually knew some real planets. :)

I wish we could do it again tonight. I guess we'll have to wait for 33 more years though.

It was hella cold! I felt like the frosty Dragon watching my own breath like smoke. Everytime I tried to take a picture I missed them but it happens.

I started a big fire to keep me warm and had a few beers. I sat around watching for a long time till I heard some animal growling. Then I ran into the house.

Very cool though I enjoyed it. :)

  11. Holy :spinfusor Clouds
I hate clouds. I stayed up to watch and it was too cloudy to see anything:p

  12. Same here. Dammit. I've only gotten to see the Leonids a couple of times in my life because it's always cloudy. SOunds like I missed a real show.

  13. Grumble...grumble...
It clouded up BEFORE midnight here. Schrike and a couple of friends were over, straining our necks and squinting at the cloudy sky...Drat.
I even got up after 4 AM and it was STILL cloudy...(sigh)
Well - my mother is a really good photographer and she lives in Northern Wisconsin (and still a Vikes fan) and I told here ahead of time - I hope she got some pics~!!!!!! (If so - i'll post...Anyone get some good photos...?)

  19. They're there very year, but they only get spectacular only every 33 years (the comet that causes them has a period of about 33 years), and the peak lasts a few years. This latest peak started in '98, but this year was the best, they say.
