Silkroad Online

    I mentioned this in the Rf Online thread, but thought it deserved it's own post.

    This is a free asian developed game. With that said, it is the best free, aw hell, best asian developed game I have played. Does that mean it is a good game? eh, it is ok.

    Why do I mention that it is asian developed? With that one phrase you can sum up allot of the main systems in the game (exp/quest/skill). :D

    The one thing with this game that looks neat is that there is a nice guild interface with a guildrelations tabs (unions) and a combat tab where you can add guilds you are at war with to the list.

    It is interesting that they take a piece of real history and created a game so that others can experience what it was like to march over the Silk Road back in their day. Though without the dragons and murlocian species we've all come to know and love.

    In Jr. High School we had this pseudo RPG game we played in history class. What happened was a group of 4 or 5 of us got together and formed our own "Wagon Train" that went from Kansas City out to the west and we had challenges each day to overcome. Each person had a role to fill out (Wagon Master, Cookie, Scout, etc) and, if we worked well together the result was a successful ride across the Rockies. I learned more about the west playing that game than any textbook could have shown me.

    I think this game, or another MMORPG, could copy this and give students a look at the regular hardships people had to go through back then in a more realistic setting.

    Developers anyone????

    The over arching game system seems to involve three jobs. You can be a merchant, a hunter, or a thief.

    A merchant has access to special goods only they can purchase. They must then travel (by camel) to a different town to sell the goods.

    A thief can jump the merchants and rob them of their goods and sell them themselves. They can also pick up other people's drops wihtout waiting the drop timer I believe.

    A hunter protects the merchants and kills the thieves.

    which to choose.....

    Sounds like the choices in character are cops, robbers, or punching bags.. Sorta like WoW, except the punching bags got that "hammer of wrath" spell a while back.. :p

    Interesting game though..

    I've restarted like 6 times now..... there are so many different options for weapon/skills combos it drives me nuts. I am always thinking hmmm that looks like it would be good.

    Right now going full strength build with glaive.... still not sure about what elements to go with.

    Really? I was actually suprised at how fleshed out the help/tutorial system was..... granted allot of it is in bad engrish :p
