Ron Paul controversy

Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by Strygun, 10 Jan 2008.

  1. Interesting that these politicians consider Ron Paul a big enough threat to play the dirt slinging game. They really had to stretch it too, digging up a document more than a decade old that he didn't even write.

  2. He just doesn't seem the type. Everything hes ever done or said has never pointed to any hint of racism. Let alone full blown out hatred and race mongering.

  3. Not nice. Hopefully it will backfire.

Even though he won't win (he had a small chance before, now it's pretty safe to say he has zero chance of winning the primary), he has caused those at the top to take notice and even be a little scared, as evidenced by the topic of this thread. This will be a good thing in the long run, as others will notice that there are votes and campaign donations to be gotten from libertarian-minded folks out there.

  5. That is the nice thing about your system. Anyone can run as an independant candidate for president.
In Canada you need to form a party first. Then you have to win enough seats in parliament to be considered anything but a bunch of independants on paper.
We have four major parties up here. One of them is actually an separatist party from quebec. The other is a "reform" party. Which primarily consists of the far right of the political spectrum. Which leaves the 3 old school parties. Of which the liberals haven't lost many voters. So we have a virtually perpetual liberal government. (except the last fed election that the conservatives won with an minority.)
It's like a monarchy with all the corruption that people in power for too long feel entitled too.
    Ya for us. >:/

I wish I had the clarity of mind Ron Paul has when being unfairly attacked, framed, bullied. This happens in politics, and every day in life. People trying to win at any price. I'd probably limp around and like a wounded animal and claw back in defense.

Ron Paul cut through the bull and got right to the point.

The real question is am I a racist? No.

This is OFN to the extreme, He's delt with this already in the past.

Just more proof of Media bias.

  8. The media is always in some parties back pocket. Whomever the owner wants to see in office.

I find part of this funny. "..the animals are coming." They say that is racist. I would say that there was no mention of race in that comment. Those who say that is racist would certainly be the racist, as they are attributing "animal" to being a black person.

Are we not all "animals"? We say those who are not civilized to be "animals". That does not mean a certain race, it means any HUMAN who is not civilized.

The full of that comment was something along the lines of "I have had my wife carry a weapon to prevent carjackings because the animals are coming."

Now, to say that is racist means the person SAYING that is the racist, as carjackers come in all colors. Attributing it to a white man saying that and thinking he meant "the animals were black" is racist. They call that "projection", meaning thats what THEY think.

I carry because of the "animals" that want to harm the rest of us.

Apparently I am racist. So be it.

Edit: Check YouTube and see what black people, and other non-whites say about Ron Paul. Some say he is, most others say he isn't. Those who say he isn't have very good arguments why they say he isn't. Those who say he is, check their sources, if they have any.

A little bit about the voting. Sutton County in NH. Was reporting NO votes for Ron Paul.

A family voted for him, yet it never changed. Later on, amazingly, 31 votes were "found" that were for Ron Paul. Apparently human error. That is what they say.

One County that misplaced 31 votes. Hmmmm......

    http://en.epochtimes.com/news/8-1-11/63935.html

I can't find any Major Media reports of this (imagine that!), but it is Dennis Kucinich that is wanting a recount. Yes, he is a friend of Ron Paul, but he see's it as wrong. Imagine that!!! And he is willing to pay the money to have a recount. THAT is being an American! Helping your friend, even though you are on different political fields.

Is it voter fraud? Possibly not. Human error is a possibility. It's easy to missplace ALL the votes for a candidate in a County, right?

Remember that...seeing how our driver's license is now becoming part of the Real ID.

Won't happen, will it. Never you mind. Gov'ment says you are safe!

This past week I've been disgusted by those bringing up the race card. Take Kelly Tilghman, for example. She is a Golf Channel commentator and last week made the comment that young golfers should "take Tiger Woods into a back alley and lynch him" as the only way to beat him. Immediately she's touted as a racist by ESPN, Fox Sports, et al. All I heard today on the radio, on the eve of Division Championship weekend in football, almost nothing about the games. It was all about Kelly and her comment. "Will she lose her job? Is she a racist? If Tiger was a white golfer, would she still make that same comment?"

Racist is a term that is used too frequently now, for me at least, to bat an eyelash at. I get pulled in the other direction, noting how quickly certain people in the media tout her as a racist right off the bat. And I have to go by the old saying, "Takes one to know one."

Add to this the story of a woman who had no contact with anyone for three weeks. When opening the door the police were sickened to see the woman already decomposing. They soon found a toddler who had died also, but only a week before the police showed up. And add the story of the father throwing his 4 kids off a bridge drowning them, reporting them missing, then feeling guilty about the whole thing and later confessing to it. One of my New Years resolutions was to stay in touch with the news of the week by watching at least an hour of news programming each day. I think I've had enough.

I need to move to that island Hamma.

By New Hampshire law, he has to pay for it. He is willing, granted, but if he wants that recount it has to come from his pocket. And when the news of this story broke this morning no mention of Ron Paul at all was in it. Actually I can't find anything on Ron Paul in any major media market. Mudslinging and following Edwards around seemed to be the game this week for the news.

I always wondered how one is a racist. As far as I know there is only one race: the human one. So we have different shades of melanin - so what? We have different sized ears too. I don't see anyone calling people out because their ears are too small or their earlobes are attached. Skin color is the most obvious thing ignorant people can select to decide how they will treat people. Sad...

I guess if you hate Martians you could be a racist.

Maybe if you always like to win at at any cost, even if it means cheating, lying, distracting, you are a racist.

The Race card is far too powerful in this country. This woman delt with this directly with the only person it affected and that is Tiger Woods. After that, this issue is long history in my mind. The golf channel itself was actually going to let this go, because She had apologised and delt with it DIRECTLY with the ONLY person the comment affected. Until they got pressured by the various minority groups and suspended her out of fear.

But the second something like this happens we have Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and all these other spotlight mongering asshats coming out of the woodwork demanding she be burned at the stake.

As I said earlier Ron Paul delt with these issues long ago, I'm not sure on the rest of the conspiracy theories about not counted votes, missing votes etc.. it wouldn't have made a difference even if that was the case anyways.

  16. Racial controversy provides a soapbox, a livelihood and an audience for people like reverend al and hymietown jackson.

If we allowed everything that even carries a hint of a racial undertone to fall by the wayside, idiots like that would be forced to get a real job.

Those thirty one votes won't change anything, that is true. We don't know yet if there are more non-counted votes. Never said anything about a conspiracy. When the recount is done, then we can decide.

Seems there is a conspiracy to discount conspiracy! Which I find odd. Especially when it wasn't mentioned.

As far as the "wouldn't make a difference". Hmmm...then I guess fairplay isn't all that important if it doesn't make a difference. I guess stealing a couple hundred thousand from Bill Gates should be overlooked, as it wouldn't make a difference to him. It's still stealing, but since the outcome means basically nothing, as he wouldn't really miss it, then no biggie.

Complacancy has gotten this Country where it is today. That is why the Constitution is basically no longer considered and is seen as just a piece of paper.

Basically why some States feel their Citizens have no need to defend themselves, as it "wouldn't make a difference" if they could. Right?

A long read, but gives light on "Foreign Policy", our Constitution, and how Ron Paul sees it.

Web site heading is a bit misleading. But if you actually read the whole thing, you might be suprised. Very informative and well written.

  19. It's a great day for the race.

    What race is that?

    The Human Race.

I don't thing racism has increased, instead what I think has increased is the reporting of it. Even then it's focused on the "Black" portion in the United States.

Do I come across racist attitudes? Yes, most of it is towards Native North Americans in Montana. I don't have the tell-tale signs of "looking" like an Indian so when people start talking ill about "Injuns" in general they are ashamed when I tell them they are talking about my ancestors and ultimately me. Do I fit the stereotype of the drunken Indian residing on the rez collecting my monthly check from the land resources? No. That would be nice.

The United States, Canada and Australia all have the worst records concerning indigenous peoples rights. Isn't that odd, the United States as having a bad record on human rights? Who's the real racist?

Brief article on Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
