Hockey Dad Trial. Guilty or Not?

    Have any of you been following the story of the Hocky Dad, that beat the coach to death? I am not sure what to think. On the one hand I really think the guy was acting in self defence, but on the other I think he went to far.

    I say they convict him of Agrivated Assualt, or of Manslaughter but proabbly give him a light sentence. In any case it's a sad story for all partys involved.

    and 10 for doing it in front of a dozen or so kids...

    Minimum is probation.. he could get probation to 20 years. Or more depending on what the judge thinks

    I see it happen all the time up here. Father's always want their son to 'win', not to 'enjoy' playing.

    I personally think it's retarded.

    I say ban the idiot parents from the rink at the first sign of there being a problem.

    Sad sad shit I tell ya.


    I won't say what kind of punishment, because I usually opt for the old 'eye for an eye' treatment.

    I agree. My father really couldn't make it to any of my social afterschool activites (sports/science fairs/plays/tournaments/etc..)

    But he always wanted me to play my hardest and try to win, BUT first and formost have fun doing it. He stood by me when I decided to quit tennis cuz the coach was an ass and he pushed all the kids to WIN WIN WIN. I remember his saying 'I am here to shape you into tennis players, you will eat, sleep, breathe, talk, and work tennis. Not play. Tennis is work, not some recreational activity' What a morn he was. :rolleyes:

    My dad backed me up when I decided to quit, and after one of the kids fainted during practice, a bunch of other kids quit or tried to. Their fathers/mothers didn't see that it wasn't fun...all they saw was a chance to live thru their kids or the all encompassing scholarships. Ghey.

    The world is a sad and lonely place. That is why I immerse myself in the online community. I feel a kinship here that is somewhat difficult to see in the outside world.

    Sounds retarded, I know. But not insane. Just think about it. read/watch the news...and you will see what I am talking about.
