What is the big news on WoW?

I heard its pretty much DAoC with better art direction. Whether that's good or bad is up to you. And while I'm here, let me squash an idiotic rumor: WoW is going to have a monthly fee. It will not be free.

 

Not like DAOC. DAOC is really a Realm vs. Realm game at its core. Or is supposed to be. That is the end game. Meaning, you spend your time fighting other people.

WoW will have PvP aspect, but as far as I can tell its only about 10%. And it will simply be PvP zones.

I think it would be bad to compare to other MMORPG games. Blizzard has taken out a lot of the complexity of most of them. There are only 5 classes and 4 races. A lot fewer than Everquest, DAOC, and Shadowbane. But the graphics looks sweet and I'm sure it'll be a blast.

Well, actually it's 6 classes and 5 races announced so far. To date the trolls are only monsters, but I still hold out hope that they will be a player race before the end. I'd love to be a Troll Shaman.

 

This will be very fun to play with CDL imo. I am looking forward to this game

 

Should/can we go to their forums and create the Clan, Mani?

 

I bet the quests will be really cool in this game, and there will probably be allot more of them (compared to other mmorpgs).


p.s. WoW might have some elements of "realm vs. realm". In the FAQ it says "we plan to incorporate a form of player conflict into the World of Warcraft". Maybe orcs vs. humans? (obviously, the other races would be on one of the sides)

 

Just knowing Blizzard is making the game is a sure sign the game will rock. Everything that makes RPG's good will be in and everything that sucks won't

BLizzard is one hell of a DEV team.

I know, I mean I hate MMORPGs but I'm even interested in this game. I guess it also helps that I'm a huge Warcraft fan too. I hope they add the naga and the pandarians as playable races too. Then I can play as a pandarian brewmaster getting people drunk, I always get him in The Frozen Throne. Drunken Haze 0wnz j00.

If this is out before the end of '04 I'll be very surprised.

It IS a Blizzard game after all.

 

Their plan from what i last read was beta to start Around Oct of this year.
