I am still alive...

Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by Tannis, 1 Feb 2005.

  1. Hey CDL, just thought I'd post to let you all know I'm still alive.

Although thanks to Test I have a few more bruises, test please stop giving zousug ideas.

I hope everything is going smoothly, zousug showed me your raid video looks pretty nice. If any of you read the crap on the wow laughing skull realm board then you know vanquish has been in a few battles recently.

Also any of you guys hitting 60 want to run BRD, or BRLS, or maybe try a small stratholme raid give me a yell. Normally on the weekends. Or if planned ahead I can get up early, but only for those special few.

  2. Good to hear from you! We miss you, ya know.

  3. Maybe I can come on TS...

Its such a confusing situation, if I lived in america I would never have left :(

But its nice when I see a few of you on early in the morning or very late at night

I miss the gnome with attitude, I hope you guys are helping her get the big axe from SM!

I don't think anyone will be calling her an ankle biter after that :D

So what is this nasty rumor I'm hearing about Vanquish Tannis?

  5. yes ur still alive... but that dosnt explain why you wont help me in WoW...... :p

  6. I assume you mean the post made by silent recently.

First off the only real evidence he has are from 2 past members. One of which left because of the point system we implemented to reward those who ran the large 20+ member raids through Stratholme and BRS.

This system does not give you the ability to grab items for auction or sale, only if you are going to use, and it upgrades you.

Its worthwhile, it means those that put the time in get the reward first, and those that have RL just have to wait a little while.

Garthas couldn't take this and left.

I have to say I do dislike silent, after he used a warrior exploit to steal kills from me while we were trying to get the crusader enchantment. He would literally just use a shout/taunt of some sort that would instantly make the kill his even if he did no damage.

But you were probably not even referring to this, and now I have ranted on for a little bit. I feel better, how about you

  7.
    howdy ya'll

point system = best way to do looting evar
i dont care who ya is, if someone comes in on their first trip to an instance and you've been there a gazillion times you will get upset if they roll higher than you. point system stops that and rewards participation. if no one needs it of course the person on their first time will get it though :>

about the nasty rumor, which one? ho ho ho

    Sounds elitist to me :p

I dont care if someone on the team has run the instance once or 3000 times. If something drops that I or they need its theirs, rewarding someone just simply because they have done the instance more is a trip to the dark side of elitism :p

    I would have left too.

  9. it just seems odd...a bit..im sorry if this offends i dont' mean to...but to me its like saying...too bad for you that you have to work and/or raise a family or go to school (some people are not as fortunate and can't play at work) it makes it sucky for the younger ones(your guild) who would love to run with you guys as a higher lvl toon

ya see rolling for stuff...its like...no matter how badass you think you are...you can still be denied something...and usually...if one in your group knows that a particular person wanted/needed a certain piece of loot...wouldn't it be cool if the others let him have it? " hey i wanna get blahdy blah blah item....someone wanna run blahdy blah blah instance with me?" its like you are competing against each other inside the guild...

i just don't understand because being a member of cdl no one because of tenure has been held higher or allowed more "priviledges" becuase of thier rank or position in a particular game...

buuuut...again..i understand that everyones game play and enjoyment for the game is different....and its all about playing with people who have the stame style or enjoy the same..attitude...for lack of a better word...towards the GAME...

after cruising through the sewers known as the wow laughing skull forums...it seems guilds complain about the way other guilds play...let them play the way they want...yeah you can call 'em a jackass or whatever...but does all this in-alliance fighting really help? waste of resources if ya ask me... fighting two wars on two different fronts don't ya think?

  10. I like Silent, if I didn't, who the hell else would enchant my gear? :)

Guilds can play and use whatever system they want, whatever makes them happy, I couldn't give a crap. The constant epeen comparrison between alliance guilds on our server is rather pathetic though.

  11. Just to expand the reason behind the point system.

At level 60, instead of getting the best piece for this or that, it comes down to sets. You may have read about them, sets like Lightforge, valor, dreadmist, devout etc.

To give an example, each boss mob in the higher level instances drops either a head or chest for every set. So say the baron in stratholme drops the legs for every set, cloth/plate/mail every set. This means that its a 4% drop on say lightforge leggings.

What the point system does is give first option to those who have saved their points for a particular drop, like lightforge leggings. Lets say they drop 1 every 20 runs, lets say you go there 19 times, someone else comes along once and gets them over you. Now its not set in stone, so a person with more points can pass etc, and you can get them, and if your the only one who can use it, you can grab it.

But at level 60 a main factor is to get your set, its especially needed if you want to take on onyxia (spellcheck!). Everyone wants to improve their character and its the only way it can be done at that level.

I wrote this out, because I do agree its a pointless system for 5 man groups, and when a boss has a higher drop rate. The point system is only active, and points can only be used in raid groups through instances.

Now also, this doesn't take away from the giving. I've had people pass on items so I could get them, it just prevents the greedy from grabbing everything. If you read the posts from garthas on the forums, just so you know he rolled on plate shoulders in zul'farrak when I was the only plate wearer there.

I hope this clears a few things up, I know I would love it if we could all just get along and see that someone needs it before you, but we can't all have the family feeling CDL has.

Sorry if I've ranted, its just fairly hard to describe how this system helps at level 60.

  12. yeah i forgot to mention that this point system is only in raid groups.
if you go somewhere with a 5 man group you roll normally, it would be stupid to make people pay for items you'd get from deadmines or whatever, ha.
i didn't really like the idea of the point system when we first strated it, but after some tweaking and seeing it work, i swear by it. when CDL starts running the higher end instances with raid groups, you will probably start to at least understand where we are coming from, if you don't think about putting a point system in as well. If you want some more info about it i can give you a link to show you the complete details about it. <3
