0ri0n's Application

Discussion in 'The Dragon Wolves Recruitment Forum' started by 0ri0n, 19 Sep 2012.

  1. Greetings everyone,
I am 0ri0n and I am formerly submitting my application for membership into the -CDL- Dragonwolves
I have performed Step 1 and have read your History, CoC, and other material that has been presented to me.
    Step 2: Question Yourself
Create a new thread in this forum and answer the following paragraph to the best of your ability.

The CDL has a long history of steadfast teamwork, melded with an ingrained sense of family. Knowing what you know of us so far, what qualities do you think best exemplify the heart and soul of teamwork? What qualities do you possess that would make you a perfect fit for the Dragon Wolves? Be as expansive as possible, and feel free to share examples from your past gaming experiences. We're looking for someone with the heart of the Dragon Wolf, does that heart beat inside of you?

I know a few of you have met me online in the PS2 beta. I have been playing as Black0ri0n. I currently am a member of the Allied Tribal Forces and you have graciously allowed us to play with you in the beta. Gryphon brought up the subject of joining your clan in our forums and I am glad he did so. Like some of you in CDL, I also have strong roots in Tribes 2. My first clan was the International Rebel Squad and we also played in the Team Warfare League. We were friends and allies with THZ (The Hounds of Zeus) and the X-Men. This is how I met Gryphon and Stang, and all the other great friends I have made in ATF (Allied Tribal Forces). I also have known of -CDL-, The DragonWolves, you are a well respected and formidable clan. and have been around for many years.
After reading your History and CoC , it really made me reflect on what I enjoyed about gaming. Some people would say the caliber of the game is the key. But others like me believe it is the company that you keep that makes a game truly enjoyable. I have been very fortunate to have been a part of Allied Tribal Forces, and been a friend and teamate to many great people. Now I hope again to be so fortunate. To be able to enjoy a laugh during a lax moment on Teamspeak, or to get an adrenaline rush; when a well planned maneuver sets our enemy in panic. That is what I truly crave. Friends and comrades are the reason I enjoy playing. I look foward to finding both of those here.
And to leave you with a few last words. In reference to -CDL- and Auraxis in PS2. Caesar once said:

Re-read your application - Bubblehead huh?

Was in a P-3 Orion squadron in the Navy. Aviation Electronics Technician here.

  12. Sentrosi,
I actually had the opportunity to ride on a P-3 Orion. Took a MAC flight from Glenview, Illinois to South Weymouth Mass and back. I had a great time. I got to sit in the Sonar Tech seats. Where did you do boot camp and A school? San Diego? I was at Great Mistakes for a year. Between boot camp, BEE, and A school. Nice to meet a fellow squid. :) You still in the electronic field?

I'm working in network security right now and loving it, though I still dabble in building PCs for ppl I know and fellow gamers. But sometimes, when I hear the drone of those Pratt & Whittney engines turning I hope that it's a P-3. But its always a C130.

Went out to San Diego for boot back in 1990 even though my recruiter did tell me Great Lakes was where I was going. Shocking, I know. But it was a little strange to call back to mom and dad and tell them that I'm not in Chicago, but San Diego.

So I spent 9 glorious weeks in San Diego getting mashed by the SEALs over at Coronado. I remember doing one pushup, just one, for about 30 minutes. Then flew into Memphis for my A-School. Loved that city. Loved the people there. I then got orders for, of all places, Detroit. There was a TAR P-3 Squadron up just north of D-town. That's where I spent my entire 'career' in the Navy. I would have stayed in, but I was a victim of the Bush military cutbacks. No one wanted to leave the Navy in my rate. So it trickled down that I left after 4 years as an E-3, even though I blew all my tests out of the water and 4.0 evals. I was Training PO of our shop and even with Wing inspections that set the standard for other squadrons in my wing I still couldn't get capped to E-4.

So I left and returned home to my wonderful state of Wisconsin. Here I spent another couple of years before meeting my wife in Chicago. She told me she lived in New York. So we became friends via e-mail, then the phone, then she eventually imported me. Second best decision of my life.

So that's the story of me. Wall of text I know.

  14. Sentrosi,
I was in the same situation as you. Did great on rating exams, had great evals, only way I would be able to get promoted would be to reenlist. I left as an E4. Spent my six years traveling around the country. Great Lakes, Mare Island, San Diego, Charleston and a few others. I saw you mentioned that you moved to New York. I just looked at your profile. You live about 3 hours South of me.I live just outside of Watertown, NY. My first job out of the service was at a power plant just North of you in Glens Falls. Small world.
