A Bald Eagle

Bald eagles are wonderful. Have you seen them in the wild? One of my most memerable moments was when my family went to Alaska for vacation and went to this fishing village on a sandbar called Homer Spit. Well we were walking on the beach and saw a couple of eagles eating a large fish one caught from the ocean. But then one by one, more eagles flew in from a nearby mountainside and for like an hour each waited in a pecking order for their turn to eat. At the peek there were about 12 bald eagles at the spot. I really need to find the photos from that trip

 

I love Rexes...they are great. I see them all over the place (grin)

 

One afternoon, before my Grandmother died, she was near the patio door and we saw her staring up into the sky, and she wouldn't answer when we asked what she was looking at. We went over to her and looked up - there were an entire family of eagles, (5 I think?) spiraling higher and higher.

Lately I have seen a HUGE Peregrine (to clarify, for a Peregrine, it was large) in my back yard and in a neighboring town. I was able to see many Raptors up close when I was a stage manager for John Karger of Last Chance Forever at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. I think it might be his as I happened to see this bird on or about the last day of the Minnesota State Fair, (he does that show, no longer the Renn-Fest) and I happen to know that if a bird decides to leave, and he thinks it's ready - he won't chase it down to get it back.
