So I got a few new games in the last month or so. All made by diffrent companys. Let me list them off followed by the problems that I have had playing the games.

Max Payne - (forgot who made it :() - No Problems

RTCW - Activision - No Problems

Deadly Dozen - Infogrames - No Problems

Empire Earth - Serria - Crashes at least once every time I play. Every time it Auto saves it locks up for a few seconds. It gace me my first Win2k BSOD last night when I tried to use the Senerio builder, and often the mouse get's bogged down and will not click a unit, or moves really slow.

All of that is after I installed the patch. So I went to the official Serria site to look for help. Maybe I need to change my Video Drivers or something. The only thing they had was a link to the patch. So I went searching for the "Tribal War" of Empire Earth fan sites and found it.

I checked their forums and what did I find??? That my problems don't even compare to the problems that most others are having with the game. For some people it will not even start. For others it crashes when they try to play the game. What is Serria doing to help these people? Nothing. Maybe they will have another patch, but will that really help?

Here we have the second time in a year that Serria has made a game, that did not work for a lot of people, and they hung them all out to dry. It's the same thing they did with Tribes 2, and it's sad. Serria has always made some of the best games around, but lately their Quality Control has been lacking.

I will be thinking twice before I give them any of my money again.

Sounds about right. My utmost fav company for support and actually treating their own games with respect is ID.. they release MP tests.. almost montly patches to keep things in order and improve netcode. They own ;)

I don't know I think Blizzard does a great job with their games. The only thing their patches do is adjust game play issues. Everything I have ever played from them has worked right out of the box, and I only patched it so I could play on line.

I might if I could pull myself away from EE long enough to do more then install it.

  7. Redstorm has brought games in like R6, covert ops, rogue spear, and now Ghost Recon...I have never had problems with any of those games. Also, Infograms has produced the independance war series, which has to be the best space simulation play I have ever experienced. Volition, though I have only seen one of their games...Freespace 2, was a completely awesome game. I have noticed sierra is slacking lately as well...the homeworld series ran fine, half-life ran fine (some errors but nothing big) T2, great game, more serious errors, and then dane's observation on EE. Problems differ for almost everyone due to different PCs. Sierra has been going downhill since half-life

  8. I find that...

blizzard has about the best quality control around, as GD said, all the patches do is adjust play balance, and i have only ever found one crash for BW and one for D2 (well, two for BW, but one was really more of a corruption than a programming error). Neither is major, and both can be avoided by not exiting out into windows while on battlenet.

  9. I screwed up d2 once.

It installed an shit, but I'd see like t2 skins etc on the main screen...

    I Was like..... wtf??

took the CD out, looked at it.. turns out there was some dried on milk or somethin on the cd that was messing up the install

cleaned it off, and now I Can play d2 again heh

  10. lol

well, that goes down as one of the most... unique errors I have ever heard of. Not exactly blizzards fault though :).

  12. Actually...

if you want something bizzare, try this on for size. I have had BW basically since it came out. I used it constantly for four years, logging probably a couple thousand hours. I also transported it, in various conditions (including upstate NY deep winter). Apparently, due to the stress placed on it by the massive temperature changes (20 degree (farenheit) weather to hot to the touch in the cd drive), it reached its limit. One day I popped it in, started it up, and heard a loud POP from the vicinity of my CD drive. I attempt to open the cd drive, and discover it wont let me. I turn off the computer, take the drive out, and spend the next hour or two trying to find a screwdriver small enough to get the damn thing open. As it turns out, the drive was not damaged. The CD however, wos COMPLETELY destroyed. There was barely a recognizable piece left.

I never get any cool errors :(

  14. I'll agree with you that blizzard puts out good games that don't crash.

But they also just give you the finger when it comes to the battle net.

In the 6 months that I played Diablo 2, the B-net was probably functional and lag free for about 2 weeks combined time spread over those 6 months.

It wasn't even to play near a Sorc for most people becuase your computer turned into a fuking door stop everytime they cast a spell.

Blizzard also fux too much with game play. In an effort to "balance" the game, they just wind up boosting one character so high it blows the others away, next patch they nerf the shit out of that character, pick a different one, and boost the shit out of that one.

So yeah, there games don't crash, but blizzard has lots more issues, I was not impressed how they handled D2, didn't buy the expansion pack. I gave blizzard the finger just like they gave me the finger everytime i loged onto the b-net.

That's why we never played on B-net. It does suck ass.

We always just had someone host a server and we played on that. Hell, Budwizzer and I used to host on our 56K's and there was little to no lag at all.

    Blizzard = Win, B-net = shit.

  16. Greetings,

I see your frustration with D2. The expansion pack balanced a lot of things out. also with the class specific items that are out for every character class it makes every class unique to play. For the most part I am like Great Dane. When I do play D2 I like to play on private games through a tcp/ip connection. I still dislike battlenet very much. It is hard to find Co-op games and racing around to grab the treasure all the time can get real tiring.

    Farewell...

  17. Mouth salivating, drooling, and crap - I'm sneezing too.

I have been waiting for soooooooooo long for this game, it damn well better be worth the wait.

  18. hmmm

I dissagree about B-Net, but then again I have a system well above specs for their games and a cable connection, so my situation is a little bit different. As for WCIII... well, I probably know as much about the game as anyone else who isnt a developer :).

  19. Actually, my computer was well above specs for D2 as well and I was at college on a DS3, we used to get 700-900k (as in bytes not bits) a second from napster sometimes.

Anyone who says the battle net was not up to total shit for the first 6 months didn't actually play on it. The servers were always going down, the lag totally sucked. But it was funny to bomb koreans off the server even if it was mean.
