A True Story About a True American and thoses that claim to be American

Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by KickedOut, 29 Jan 2002.

  1. I've just finished watching John Walker's parents talk about how much their son loves America, and what a good American he really is. Over the last couple of days, I've heard all the bleeding hearts talk about how he's just a boy, only 19, didn't know what he was doing. I am disgusted, and I wanted to take a moment to tell you both about your grandfather, my father.

When Vance Walsh was 17, he lied about his age and joined the Marine Corps after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. He was sent to the Philippines and stationed on Correigador, an island in Manila Harbor. He was there when the Japanese invaded the Philippines, and he was wounded and taken prison. In some ways, he was lucky; if he hadn't been wounded during the invasion, he would have probably been sent on the Baton Death March, and he probably would have died. Instead, he turned 18 in a Japanese Prisoner of War camp. He had most of his teeth knocked out by a rifle butt. He was forced to work in the rice paddies. He survived on starvation rations, supplemented with snails, rats, roaches and kernels of rice that he smuggled back to camp between his toes and saved up until there was enough to make a couple mouthfuls. He spent almost three years under those conditions. Your grandfather loved America. Your grandfather was a good American.

You tell your children when they're old enough to understand, and tell them often, that they had a great grandfather who was willing to risk his young life for his country.

This was sent to me from my Mom thought Id share it with ya guys.

    Amen KO.

Many american's died fighting on Foriegn soil so that we could be free.

When the hammer of the nazi's reigned down upon american men, it made the toughest steel. It took good old boys out of the backwoods of Kentucky and Tenessee. Yankees from the north, Rebels from the south and all in between. All willing to fight in a country that had no meaning to most, so that we (my family, your family) are free to live the lives that we choose. And they paid, over and over, some still pay today for this freedom. He made his choice, he knew what he was doing. No matter what, he will not make it through prison, be it military or civilian.

Remember the Taliban's quote? "Come and fight us on the ground, show us what you are made of" We are there. We are showing you what we are made of. Steel, fired in the souls of freedom.

If you speak to a vet, most will tell you, we had a job to do, we did it the best that we could. They did not go seeking Honor, they did not go Seeking Valor, they went seeking freedom from the oppressed and in doing so ended up with more. Honor, Valor and Victory. But victory did not end there, we then took these countries, humbled before us, spent our time, our money and rebuilt them. That speaks more volumes than anything.

That is what makes us American's. To go above and beyond the call of duty.

    Preach it Otto!

I won't even try and add to that. Otto speaks volumes there. By the way, me and Otto are rl brothers and our dad served in WWII in Germany. He experienced first hand what we are talking about right here and I know for a fact that if we asked our dad what to do with Taliban John, he would say, "Shoot the SOB and toss his carcass in an out-house pit."

Look it's real simple to get munipulated by the media. Just think of it this way. If John Walker could have shot you he would. If you let him walk away he will. Kill John Walker!

Amen people. Walker made his choice about whom he wanted to side with, and whether or not he knew that he would be fighting Americans means little. What does mean something is that he deserted his country. Period. Put him with the prisoners in Cuba....he is not one of us anymore, he is one of them.

Yeah you're not stuck in the middle of nowhere with no one to talk to. The difference between prison and here is (A)Prison must have better food. (B)Prison has a barbwire fence.

6 months.. yep I'm going to start smoking mad amounts of pot!
