Anyone playing Splinter Cell? BF1942 notes also...

Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by Desperado, 2 Mar 2003.

  1. Just wondered if anyone is playing Splinter Cell, or had already played it for Xbox. It's a sweet ass game, I would heavily recommend it. Not so much first/third person shooter, but a lot more strategy and thinking to get around without killing everyone in sight.

My only BF1942 note is... that it sucks. I went in thinking it was like a Medal of Honor and it turns out it's more like Medal of Boredom. I know a lot of you guys play it, I was wondering if someone can enlighten me about maybe why it's any good?

  2. How could you say that, medal of honor was crap. It was like WW2 espionage, no one likes WW2 espionage. People want WW2 tank action with guns and ships and planes! Whats not to like?

  3. well for me i was getting bored of getting nade spammed to hell and spawned camp. but now i just started to play desert mod and it has brought new life for the game for me. i still get spawn camped but its cooler getting iit from m-16s and choppers then gayass shermans. :cammo:

That tends to happen more on public servers (EA, nVidia, etc.). Which is why I tend to go for the clan type servers. They often have FF on and some sort of TK filter on as well. Very convenient when you have 10 year olds with no skillz and all they want to do is ruin your fun.

Also, if you're playing BF1942, get on TS. If I'm playing, I'm normally dialed into TS. A nice way to see if anyone you know is playing the game also.

  5. MoH was not bad, didn't try spearhead. Omaha Beach was the bomb ofcourse.

BF1942 can kill some serious hours of your life. The Battles are huge and the number of roles you can choose are infinite. Personally going Mechanic and getting a good tank are a great combo for me. Also Road to Rome is a solid expansion, so far I've been enjoying it quite a bit. But I agree that its all about the quality of the server!

  6. Don't get me wrong, if you like BF1942 that's totally cool. I just personally found it boring as hell. I never tried to play it online as I only had it installed maybe three days at most before I uninstalled it.

About MoH, I thought it was fun. There haven't been many games since the original Tribes that kept my attention for more then a couple of days and MoH happened to be one of them.

  7. Yea its all personal opionion. I got pretty burned out on WW2 games though from Wolfenstein, MoH, and BF1942 all coming out. They were all pretty decent though.

Splinter Cell is pretty sweet. I've got it on Xbox, modded and copied ofcourse heh. I got stuck in it though and bought the guide but yet to pick it back up and play it more. I usually get into a grove of playing a game and if I get stuck I might not play it again for years heh.

  8. I'm on the CIA building part right now, it's pretty tough.

Im slowly working my way through splinter cell :D

  10. Yea, "slow" being the key word to getting through the game.

  11. Anyone tried Freelancer yet?

I'm up to level 5 now and crusing in a Liberty Heavy fighter. Its a very solid game. Some may be put off by the hokey voices and on planet graphics/interface but the game works really well. If they had actually been able to make this game a stable MMO it would have slaughtered E&B and prolly beat out EvE to. As it is, its easily one of the biggest non MMO game universes I've ever seen.

Just bought it Friday and I'm loving it. It reminds me of the old Privateer days. If you want to go on-line and need a wingmate, look me up on TS. I haven't played it on-line yet, but looking forward to.

  13. Yea, its defintely a modern day privateer. I haven't tried the multi player yet, but you can setup your own persistant world and I'll prolly mess around with that soon.

  14. Freelancer is OK, but when you look at one of the new games coming up, X2: The Threat, it looks like a kiddie game. Especially of they do what they want to do and make a MMO universe kinda like Jumpgate (only better!).

  15. Bf1942 is the shizzle!

Play at this server: The Hell Crew@xgamer.net

It is my clan's server, up to 40 people can play in it, Team Damage IS on. Hopefully your not a jackass noob cause we tend to kick a lot in our server ;)

To make it more fun for you, join a bf42 clan or play in non EA servers. 1.31 patch just game out which fixed some bug problems. I'm very addicted, just as addicted when i first played T2. You can also visit my bf42 clan's site! www.thehellcrew.com Cool bunch of dudes to play with. Remind me of CDL:thumbsup:

  16. Hmm... Well, I played the demo for PC a while back, and I loved it. The only flaw I noticed (this may not seem like one to masny peope) is that the turning system is a little fast. Other than that, I would love to purchase it. :)
