All I can say to this is WOW!! The future really is now.

.....The thing is all they did was transport the information about the particals....

.....So why destroy the first object? Maybe you need to destroy it inorder to get the information about the particals...

.....But once you have that information, why not just recreate the "thing" over and over again.....

    .....Food replicator?....Clone things?.....Hmmm.....

We're being over run by Gayzers! Fall back!! Fall.... no not my agghh!!!

Would you liked that shipped 3 day, 1 day air, or instant beam?

  4. well rayzer, first off, you need to keep in mind that all they have done thus far is reproduce a beam on photons... elementary particles. As it mentioned, we have yet to even transport a full atom (I would imagine hydrogen will be the first, since it is just a single proton, with succeedingly more complex elements following.). Second, as for the "destruction" of the laser beam... well, i intend to look further into this, as it is a subject i am extremely interested in (physics in general, not teleportation) but from what i recall having read in the past, quantum entanglement basically involves making one objects "identity" (on a cosmic level) the same as another. It is on the EXTREMELY exotic side of modern physics, so it may take me some time to find information, but when i do i will give a heads up for all who are interested.

  5. well...isn't it true that in theory, if a human were to be teleported, it would destroy the original, and rebuild them as a new person at the new destination, no memory, no anything, just a human that is exactly like you?

  6. Ahhhh......my dead Kaikou,

But if they were created with your EXACT atomical structure, I'm not talking genetic clone here, I'm talking clonced at an atomical level, would that clone not contain your memories your personality your thought and would for all intents and purposes be you.

What are memories but a bunch of stored things in our brain. If your atomic structure would be copied exactly these would come too.

But the true question would be: Is it still you? Hmmm......

But I always thought that replicators would solve world hunger. Got in bin in the back for raw material.....sand, dirt, garbage, whatever. After all, you cannot just create something out of nothing, you need a source for the partical. So you break down the junk into basic sub atomic praticals, quarks and leptons and the like and then reconstruct them using the saved signiture of say a plate with a T-Bone and baked patato :)

Yeah the possibilites are endless. But they haven't come up with flying hydrogen powered cars yet, so I'm not holding my breath for teleporters or replicators any time in my life time.

Just give me a disc shooter and a mortar launcher and I am happy. :D

  8. how about the medical implications of this. Teleport someone except that when they reform, instead of that old sick heart they have a new healthy one. How bout teenagers with acne, poof, no more acne. How bout someone who died, how bout we keep their "makeup" in the teleport computer and reform them, even years later.

    :jawdrop:

Or how bout this, your on a hot date and have a one nighter, you think hey this is great. So you ask your date, can i scan you into my teleporter memory so Whenever I need you again, well you know the rest.

If it makes beer I'll be happy.

  10. In goes the coke, out come the beer.

    Mmmmmmmm beeeeeeeeerrr.

  11. ******

Keep in mind, they were not transporting particles. They were transporting a laser beam. A particle is a loose term define a atom or other 'physical' matter. A laser beam is not comprised of 'particles' but rather photons. Photons are kind of like intangible matter, but not really. One can't really 'touch' a photon. Once they can actually transport a 'particle' such as a proton, neutron, electron, etc.; that is when there can be talks of physical matter transportation.

Remember, the scientific community is still not too knowlegdable about quantum mechanics and all of its repercussions. I wonder, how a roaming nuetrino or artificial lepton would react to above mentioned experiment.

In the article it said 3 to 5 years before they will be able to teleport an atom.

  13. But the real question is what is inside a black hole? :p

  14. Great Dane

    Great Dane THE LEGENDARY BANNED</

    Everything.

  15. or is it Nothing?

It's everything, because nothing comes out.

See it's like this "Everything goes in, and nothing comes out"

  17. Ahhh......but maybe that is b/c the black whole is in essence Anit-Matter, so everything goes in, but one it goes in, it truly becomes nothing...
