best home AV

Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by Paladin, 1 Jul 2006.

  1. Ok so what would you recommend for the best home AV?

Norton, Mcfee, Panda, System Mechanic with kaspy or what??

  2. Panda has always been decent, altho its email scanning used to be lacking. Not sure if its changed or not recently.

I would stay away from Norton, the home version is terrible and a huge system hog.

  3. From everything I can find online Kaspersky is always at the top of the list along with NOD32. I have run NOD32 before and everything worked fine for me. I am currently evalutaing Kaspersky 5 and so far so good.

And I agree about Norton. i would also stay away from McAffee as well.

  4. If you buy Norton from the store, the part they don't tell you about is that its a 1 year lease of the software, you don't 'own' it. So $50 = 1 year. Once it expires, it won't update until you buy it again. Blech.

  5. i've always found that not kissing the infected mate works pretty good. but then, that deteriorates pretty fast when she asks why i don't shower her with affection. "you're diseased" just doesn't have that amorous quality about it.
