    my grandpa wants me to join the navy and he has been sending me stuff like that for a couple of years now I still don't know if I'll sign up or not yet if I do I'd like to drive a LCAC the hover craft thingys that would be soooo tizight

    I recall seeing something about them on the History Channel, (omg Legend is a nerd) they interviewed a guy that drives one. He said they are really hard to control because you have to constantly distribute the power of the fans correctly because of the waves to drive straight. But anyway, good luck in whatever path you choose. :thumbsup:

    yeah, the Harrier has its own problems though.

    But, if you want real up close fighting, gimme an A-10 anydayoftheweek.

    I heard in the Falklands war, whenever an Argentinian aircraft was chasing one of our [British] Harriers, the Harrier would just stop as fast as it could, go vertically upwards, while the Argentine plane flew underneath and past it, and then just fire a rocket or two up it's tail pipe. Boom, baby.

    Edit: Oh, and another thing. I don't know if any of you have heard of it, but i have been to the Farnbrough Air Show - Britains biggest airshow. It's awesome, i saw an apache just sitting there, slightly bobbing up and down, it's rotor moving slightly - looked so damn scary. You know like at the end of 'Behind Enemy Lines', when Owen Wilson is running from the militia guys with all the AK's towards the edge of the cliff and then just as he reaches the edge, the gunship hovers up and blows them all away. Thats why i love them.

    Anyway, back to my point - There was a Harrier there. It did a short take off, flew about a bit, hovered, then did the most awesome thing ever - the bowed to the crowd!! It was so awesome. Then landed vertically. Oh, and i saw an F-15 flying too - they are so fricken loud, the ground was actually reverberating, it was so low.

    Been to Farnbrough Air Show a couple of times. Whenever we did deployments to either Bermuda or Rejkavik(sic) we would always send a P-3 Orion over there for a weekend. It was a complete geedunk op, and one everyone wanted to get on. It was 1992 that I got to go up there with CAC-1 (Combat Air Crew). Had loads of fun showing everyone who came on board the inside of a combat ready aircraft. Most of the questions that I was asked I really couldn't answer, on account it was classified info, but it surely was fun.

    Even got a chance to go tour some other aircraft. I've been to EAA in Oshkosh a couple of times. If you've ever been there, think of all those private airplanes and now put F-15's, F-16's, Harriers, A-10's, SU-27's, MiG-27's, etc on the tarmac instead. It's awesome. I want to go back there and take my son/daughter there someday.

    get your ass up to Oshkosh this year Orange. Grab Duff and whoeverelse is down there. You'll have the time of your life.

    Best part about EAA = warbirds. WW2 airplanes and bombers.
