City of Heroes Hits the Books [8/12/2004 2:42:05 PM ET]
NCsoft Corporation, Cryptic Studios and CDS Books have jointly announced a multi-year licensing agreement that will see CDS publish several books based on NCsoft’s MMO title, City of Heroes.
The first book under the deal, The Web of Arachnos, is scheduled for late 2005 and "will detail the origins of Statesman, the signature hero of Paragon City, and will provide readers with some of the shadowy beginnings of one of City of Heroes’ first villain groups."
Robert Garriott, president of NCsoft North America, stated, "This is indicative of the enthusiasm that is building around the City of Heroes property in the three and a half months since we launched the product." He added, "We’re thrilled to partner with CDS. They have excellent experience and a proven track record in the book publishing and distribution business."
City of Heroes has reached 180,000 active subscribers since its release in late April.

That's a cool idea, I don't know if it would be successful at all, but it does have potential. Being able to fight villains that you read about could help add depth to the game for hardcore comic book fans.

  3. End of 2005? Ouch, thats a bit late...

  4. Its not a bad pace for a normal author. Not everyone can write at the output volume of piers anthony.

the trick about piers anthony is he cloned himself

  6. Nah, he just cuts the quality of his work a bit and forces himself to write every work day. For him, it is a job. A good way for a commercial writer to go about it, not the best for an artist.
