Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by Nahola, 22 Jun 2005.

  1. at this point in time college is going to be a no go for me. Uncle Sam decided he like to take money from me but not return the favor so I can go to college. I am pretty sure I cant get a loan cuz I have no credit and no co-signer. So basically I am screwed!! Any suggestions?

Check the state government site for the state you are in and see if they offer grants or loans. Typically most states offer grants/loans for people wanting to go to school.

Grants are 1337, but if you can't get a grant, the loans are usually low interest and payable after you graduate.

    Hope that helps!

  3. you may want to check into pell grants as well. i know when i was younger that everyone told me to check into them :) its a student aid grant. Also alot of companies will let you work and pay for you to go to school or part of it for you as well. and that can be helpful. i took a few years this way and as long as your grades are good they pay! :)

There are *lots* of different financial aid programs out there. Make an appointment with a financial aid counselor, they can often help you get aid you might not think you qualify for.

Check the websites of the college(s) you're interested in as well -- you never know what programs they might have.

Check this out too, it's a directory that our financial aid office put together of online aid resources: (be nice to my webserver :p )

    Hope this helps! :D

  5. Financial Aid is a life saver. Many people wouldn't be able to go to college if it wasn't for them. I know I couldn't afford college without a loan. It depends on your state. I know in Kansas you can get financial aid through the college or other nationwide school loan programs. They have student loans and parents loans for the students.

Good Luck on your search. I think FASFA is a loan program. Try www.fasfa.com
