    I was looking for pics of dogs in pounds to haunt :dane: with and came across this...

    Recently it was reported that Burlington Coat Factory was selling what they thought was coyote and fox fur trimmed coats while having sold dog and cat fur trimmed coats. They say they regret what happened, and they most likely are sorry, but they're not sorry that they sell fur. They regret that it was dog and cat fur, because here in the United States and elsewhere in the world where dogs and cats are considered companions and members of the family, such a thing is considered disgusting. But let's put this in perspective.

    In Asia, where they eat dogs and cats, their skins are sold, just as the skins of cows and pigs are sold here in the United States to make shoes and coats. After all, the skins of these loving, feeling, and sensitive animals are just "by-products" of the violence on our plates. So why should it make any difference if we wear this violence on our backs? If we look at it this way, it really shouldn't matter. But it does matter when it comes to dogs and cats, because in this light, it touches our sensitivities, even though they are selective sensitivities.

    Thats Very Sad , Its bad enough where i work its next to the city animal control and they put dogs to sleep ,then they burn them .

    Why be sad for those animals? I'm not an animal hater or anything, our house is a veritable zoo, back in the early 90's we had a dog, a cat, 3 birds, 9 fish, and a chimp (mom worked for the zoo). If someone were to kill MY dog, I would be upset. But...

    What is taboo here, isn't elsewhere and the opposite is also true. Sure, everyone is upset that people kill dogs and cats, but if it came down to eating Fluffy or watching your family die, which would you do?

    Likewise, I don't see most "animal activist" (you know the ones, the people that do it to be popular or accepted) crying a river every time a Big Mac is sold. But in India, cows are sacred, so they have a very different view on the killing of cattle.

    Why don't we worry about killing other PEOPLE which to me seems far more important, and then start working our way down the food chain?

    But, that's just my opinion.

    We don't eat dog because we have cow. People in India starve because they worship cows.

    I can see it now.

    Sir this is going to be our first dipllamatic attempt with India.

    Excellent I want everything to go perfect. Show him the capitol then take him to the best steak house you can find.

    Oh and another thing. Didn't Native Americans worship buffalos? That didn't stop their asses from having a good meal. Native Americans were pretty smart. They sat around smoking and relaxing, went out and got some buffalo breakfast, and had the inteligence to take cover when the early settlers said "take aim".

    Can you imagine how stupid they must of thought the white man was?
