  4. If I were El Presidente of the great States of United America, I'd have those wenches hanged for sassing off about me to the Brits.

In all seriousness though, they've got some fucking nerve saying that publically to a bunch of fans. I think it's fine for them to not like Bush nor the war in Iraq, but when you have clout and an attentive audience like they do, you should have the common sense to know when to express your views, and when to keep your mouth shut. If I liked the Dixie Chicks, I'd have probably mailed them the CD's of theirs I would in theory own with a nice letter like the guy above wrote. If they're not going to exercize some brain power to realize that some "celebrities" from America flaming their own President in front of a bunch of foreign people makes America as a whole look bad, then they should be taken down a peg or two in terms of fame and popularity. Then nobody will give a damn what they have to say (which they shouldn't already, but apparently making music or movies puts you in a position where you know your ass from your elbow in terms of politics, or at least so celebrities think).

  5. I don't really care for dubya myself, and yes, it is freedom of speech to say whatever you want. But people don't stop buying eminem CDs becuase he is prejudice against gays... Just think about it...

  6. maybe because hes Not prejudice against them and everyone that buys his album sees that.

Also its a totally different audience to begin with

  7. Does the audience really matter? I think not...

I also believe it is because Eminem is not a representative of our entire country. Bush IS our commander and chief, like him or not you owe him respect. You owe him that for the respect of the american people he represents. To voice your opinion in front of people with common interest and goals is one thing, but to voice your opinion in front of a foreigners in a foreign country just to get a rise out of the crowd is down right disgusting and one of the lowest and most disrespectful thing someone can do.

If you can't see the difference between Eminem and the Chicks you may want to read their exact comments and where they were at the time.

The audience does matter, because I guarantee no matter where they performed in the USA, they wouldn't have made it off the stage unscathed.

  9. the audience 'might' not matter, you are right.

but the difference between those situations is, The dixie chicks flat out said they are ashamed of bush. Enimem doesnt go out saying he hates gays (hell, he even performed with elton john at the grammys).

His lyrics are controversial and a lot of people take them the wrong way, but those that are fans of him know he doesnt hate gays or whatever else.

  10. What other people have said. I'm too lazy to type much today.
    :twak:
