Dragon Down

  1. Tonight around 2100, I lost a member of my small household. Gypsy was patroling the perimiter when she was ambushed by a enemy vechical. Her corpse was recovered at 2130 when she was discovered overdue for a status check. Yep, that girl would come find me about every 30 min or so when she was outside, as if she was checking in with me.

Gypsy was a loving and carefree cat that came to me when her owner moved out of country to wed. She has lived with me for as long as I have owned this house, about 2 years now. In that time she managed to completely wrap me around her little paws. If I negelicted to fill her dish before I went to bed, I could count on being awoken by her sitting right next to my face and gently pawing at me until I woke up. More than once she has saved me from being late to work with that little stunt. Both her sister Sasha and I are moping around the house, already missing her. She was buried curled up like she always did in her (and mine) favorite blanket.

Good Bye Gypsy, I miss you already.

I feel your pain Sieldan. The cat that I got when I was in 6th grade had to be put down 2 years ago. Smokey had started to mope around the house as if he was in pain. Tufts of hair seemed to be falling out of him. A checkup showed that he had liver problems and that these were irreversible. I was living in NY at the time, and when my Sister gave me the call, I was torn.

Smokey would wake me up at 5:30am every single morning when I was in school to demand to be fed. He would bat his paws against my chin and nose to wake me up.

When I was a Senior in high school I broke my leg. I had about 2 months of straight bedrest and it was at this time I started to read the Dragons of Pern books. I swear to god that I impressed Smokey. From that day on we would just seem to know where each other was. Made it a little embarassing when I brought a girlfriend home, but it was good.

I still miss him. My mother and sister both have a cat now. They're playfull and fun to be around, but you never get past the one that you truly 'impressed'.

  3. I had all sorts of rodents as pets. The first one was a mouse, and he eventually got cancer, and had a large tumor growing on his rear leg. It looked very painful, and then he eventually died. I also had 2 gerbils. The first one was killed by the mistreatment of my brother . Who broke it's back while jumping down the stairs when it was in it's ball :(. My second Gerbil developed a malignant tumor on it's nose. I was devestated when it died. The second one was by far my favourite. I had gotten him when he was only a month old, and he had been so accustomed to me, he never bit, or scratched, and those gerbils have some mighty powerful claws. It sucks when pets die.

  4. Yea, it really sux. Im not a very emotional guy (ask my GF) but this is killing me. Sasha isnt helping things by searching the house for her sister and wailing. Gonna try and go to bed now as I have to be at work early tomorrow morning.

  13. :(

I feel your pain, I had a kitty companion as a tike and my heart broke when he died. Its always hard to cope with the loss of a loved one, even pets. cats are great pets and I recommend one to anyone who needs a little pal to hang out with while relaxing. they really are extremely loveable and caring creatures.

  14. Yeah comrade. None of my cats have died of natural causes so I can relate. Sorry =(

  16. I feel your pain Sieldan - hard to get over losing a pet that's pretty much a family member and more than an "animal".

  17. Sorry to hear of your loss Sieldan. I too have lost a cat after 16 years with the family.
