DUST 514 (Console MMOFPS)

    Interesting concept, especially how it relates to EVE online.. They're trying to make an FPS integral to the PC spaceship MMO.. I'm a bit skeptical over how this will work (if at all), though the FPS concept and the permanence of it, is something I think is a good idea all around..

    Pity that it's console focussed, it should most definitely have been a PC shooter concept.

    They had some stills of the promo on their company site, so I'm putting them up.

    The first is the Command Pit for one of the factions. It sounds as though players choose a part of the planet to "drop into", and then they stay on the ground unless they get a transport or something back up to the carrier:

    The second image is from a Staging Area of the other faction, showing anything from the smallest buggy with a turret (like a Warthog), to larger ships such as Planetary Frigates that deploy fighters:

    CCP Games have a large following when it comes to titles and they usually partner with Reakktor (who made games like NEOCRON), so whatever these guys are doing, you can be sure it going to be awesome.

    Listen, don't get me wrong. I love the console. I've been wanting to get ahold of a Wii since they first came out. And sports games just seem easier to play on a console.

    But when it comes to a night where I want to bash zombie brains with a hollow point slug, begin assaulting a mountaintop with a squad filled with juiced up metalheads, or get a few Dragonwolves together for a game of CTF, I'm going to go PC.

    Well I'm down for it either way PC or console... if only to motivate more developers to create games more like this in the future. To me this this is an incredible idea and should have been done with the BattleTech universe.
