I wish I were making this up. Major retailer X'd out to protect me.

"On 3/9/06 I purchased a Coleman Camp Grill for $47.00 from XXXXXXX Store in Madison, WI. While I was loading the merchandise to my vehicle, and the grill was still in the cart--I stepped away from the cart for a few minutes, someone took my grill. I tried to resolve this with XXXXXXX, requesting for a replacement as the grill was stolen on their property.
They checked the vido surveillence, and observed that I, indeed, had the grill in my shopping cart.
I was informed that nothing they can do about it, and they suggested that you may be able to replace the grill and told me to contact you for a replacement.
The item: Coleman Camping Grill 007650122150, black with blue colored cover. Please help me. I'm still quite upset about it. I am a regular customer of Coleman Products and all of my camping suplies, equipment are by Coleman. Please reply. Thank you so very much. I can provide the transaction number if needed. "

The sad thing is while we should say "sorry, but that is between you, XXXXXXX, the local police and your insurance company", more likely we will send them a grill.

lol what an idiot..... I wish society didn't reward people for being stupid. Yeah if this happened to me (which it wouldn't) I would be pissed. But you would be rest assured that I wouldn't leave anything open for the taking from that point on.

  4. If I dropped my case of Killian's in the parking lot I wouldn't ask them to replace it.

And who the hell would want to steal a grill?

  5.

I would rather have my grill stolen than lose a case of Killian's in such a manner. ;)

Working where I do and having to do "loss prevention" from time to time, I can honestly say this isn't the stores fault....why leave your merchandise unattended for a few minutes in the parking lot???
Retailers shouldn't be responsible for customers stupidity whether they are on the store's property or not. And if this was in a strip mall technically the parking lot isn't even the stores but the owner's of the mall, trust me its come up.
Its a matter entirely between the thief, the customer, and the legal system.

On a side note....only lamers use centos mog :p.

  7. I assume you work for coleman then? Or did I miss something.

Honestly, I don't see how Coleman would do something, seems like an innocent enough mistake though. If it happened to me, I'd call my credit card company, a lot of them have theft protection like that.

If you paid cash, you'd really have to just suck it up. I wouldn't expect the manufacturer to replace it.

I've been accused on occasion of imitating a web programmer at Coleman. Lies.
