I'm just curious but what did the word "Flak" mean anyway? Was it --> Fully Loaded Ass Kicker?

Flak comes from WW2 when the missle Technology was non existant. The best way to stop an enemy bomber was with AA guns called "Flak Cannons" the priciple of these guns, was not o actully shoot down an enemy bomber but to fire exploding shells into the air, and make the enemy planes fly through the shrapnel (or flak). The "Flak" in the air tore through the propellers on the plane, and the fussalage of the aircraft resulting in them crashing.

That is also why a bullet proof vest is called a flak jacket.

    think about it.

Flak was fired from cannons at planes that flew overhead during bombing, with the intention to shoot down the enemy planes. :)

in IX, the Flak was used to shoot down planes, as well as fatties :)

    Alright.

...alright now I'm lost! You say the Flak isn't designed to shoot down an enemy bomber. Then you say it is designed to shoot down an enemy bomber. Gotcha!
    ;)

  5. Think of it more like a dangerous debris field

Thank for the explination though. I just never heard the term "flak" used in school. I guess my schools sucked. :|

I never said that the Flak was not designed to shoot down an enemy bomber. I said the cannons weren't. They are desinged to put flak in the air, and the flak is dessigned to take out the bombers.

KO, it rained down on the country side along with our bombers. If you look at a lot of old war footage and old pictures, you will see debri all over the fields.

I always wounder why you would see those shells exploding around B52's in those old war movies. I knew they were exploding shells but no one ever told me that they were shot from flak cannons.

That's kinda interesting. Like throwing large grenades in the air.

Wasn't Soviet Strike the last of the Strike series?

I loved those games. Desert Strike and Jungle Strike were 2 of the best games ever made for the Genisis.

It was. I even had the "Sega Channel" so I got new games every month beamed right into my TV.

Sega Channel was pretty cool. It was like a Cratrage that was hooked into your TV cable and then pluged into your Genisis like any other cartrage, and when you turned it on you got to select from 30 diffrent games.

They would give you 30 new ones every month. Sometimes that was great, but if there was a game that you liked it would sudenly be gone. They useually came back in a month or 2, but loseing them for that long wasn't the greatest.

Maybe that was their way of trying to get you to buy the game.

Some of the games were "Sega Channel Exclusives" That was there way to get you to subscribe to the service. Other games were pre release so you got to play 1 or 2 levels before the game came out. And others were just plain old games.
