The server is back up. I made some significant changes, but I'm not sure if the exploit has been patched. Basically, the script kiddies are exploiting a bug in one of the hardware drivers on the system, which makes the ethernet card hang. If what I did didn't fix it, then I will be changing the hardware on the machine, which will mean all sorts of downtime.
