Friend Dies in the Service

Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by Aeternus, 10 Jun 2006.

  1. A friend of mine died yesterday after landing his Black Hawk outside of Ft. Campbell.

Here is a tiny article in the Army Times which I believe is about him.

He was recently married, and a father. While we were not very close, two friends that are like brothers to me were.

Your thoughts and prayers for his wife and family would be appreciated.

    :salute:

All have given some, some have given all; I salute his service to the greatest military in the world and I pray for his family members left behind.

When I am called to serve, Dear Lord,
    Wherever war may be,
Give me courage to fight the battles,
My country may ask of me.
    Grace me with Your presence,
And know that I love You,
    While I fight the enemy,
    My country needs me to.

    Help me protect my comrades,
    As You expect me to,
And keep me in Your loving hands,
While I do what I must do.
I want to do my duty,
And to give the best in me,
To do what I've been called to do,
    And protect our liberty.

And if, according to Your will,
I must give up my life,
Please bless with Your protecting hand,
    My children and my wife.

Mere words cannot express my thoughts on your friend's family and those surrounding them. My thoughts and prayers go out to them in this very hard and troubling time in their lives. Be there as a rock for them Aeternus.

To those who are with us, but cannot be here.
And to those who are with us, but no longer here.

For the curious: This was the toast I gave after my Grandfather passed.

  8. His unit held a memorial service for him yesterday at Fort Campbell. Next Wednesday there will be a memorial for him at TCU's chapel in Fort Worth, where he graduated ROTC from. The funeral will be closed casket, and will be held either that evening or later in the week.

It is an odd thing him simply not being here anymore, but that is often times the case with those who pass on "before their time".

It is sad that his seven month-old daughter Arle will have only had those short months to be with him, and that she will not be able to call upon those times in rememberance except through any photographs that exist.

  9. Thats sucks man, give his family out best
