Fun facts about Aleena =D

  1. I thought I'd take this opportunity before plugging back into the WoW beta to tell you all a little about myself, in hopes of allowing you all to get to know me just a bit better. To start with, I'm a cook/baker currently managing a kitchen at a natural foods store in Indiana. I have been playing online games since the 14.4kbps modem allowed some semblance of multiplayer gaming(Diablo!), and been playing Lan games since the release of Macintosh's "Marathon" series.

*shudders, trying to block repressed memories of those graphics*

I became involved with mmropgs when I was introduced to Ultima Online back in 1998 and became instantly and forever addicted to the genre. Having always been a fan of rpgs, this was more than I ever dreamt would happen. I played that game for about a year, engaging in the occasional pvp battle, but nothing large scale due to the tremendous amount of lag that existed within the game at the time.

Everquest: Ah everquest. It was truly my poison for nearly four years. From late 1999, to 2003, Everquest was my passion. I joined one of the two premiere guilds on the Brell Serilis server and rose to fortune and power, killing such monsters as The Avatar of War, and clearing places like the Temple of Veeshan's north wing(pre-luclin). EQ introduced me to raiding and my love of a well organized, quickly executed raid. I led several such excursions and learned the ropes of putting people into parties and keeping people organized under duress.

Shadowbane- Shadowbane has thus far been the defining PvP experience of my gaming carrier. Two close RL friends and I formed a guild known as <Aftermath>. We were the first on the Carnage server to plant our tree of life, and the first on the server to have functional vendors and trainers. Eventually, about 75% of the server attacked us in an attempt to bring our empire to the ground, shortly after we proposed a treaty of peace and alliance with every major and most minor nation on the world. One guild allied with us. The rest assaulted our 80 person army with about 600 on one cold winter's night. We annihilated them. We took down the banner of every guild present at that battle. Over the next two months, we summarily assaulted and burned to the ground every nation that attacked us at that battle. They tried to defend themselves with massive forces, but always we would emerge victorious and with barely a casualty.

It was truly the most fun I've ever had with any video game I have ever played. Afterword, the major guilds on the server quit playing or moved servers. Those that remained signed the peace treaty that Aftermath had proposed, and within a few months, the server was taken down due to a lack of interest. Despite the fact that we built a massive colloseum and tournament grounds, global peace did not work for a PvP game =P

So that's my rpg history in a nutshell. I believe in well orchestrated, honorable PvP in which both sides get to have fun, but preferably my side emerges as the victor. I do hope you will consider me for -CDL-, it would be an honor to join your ranks.

  3. Sadly, not nearly as much as I once did. Between work and my girlfriend, I don't get to play as much as I would like. However, my girlfriend is very understanding and supportive of my gaming and has accepted the fact that I will be devoting 60+ hours to the first week of WoW's release. =P Thanks for the support!

  4. Looks good, we'll be watching! :)
