So, while I was working yesterday, snook decided he'd shift into top gear and get as much of my kitchen finished as possible before I got home. (He doesn't want me exposed to more dust or paint fumes than is necessary)

We bought the cupboards from Ikea (really really nice medium brown wooden cupboards) and half the kitchen was installed last May.

He was drilling the brackets into the main area of the kitchen and making sure they were level so that he could start putting the cupboards up. He finished one bracket. He started drilling the second bracket up.

He met resistance while drilling the second bracket up, and pushed the drill harder, as its drywall over concrete.

The drill hit something, and he was met with an immediate and sudden spray of water, as he had actually drilled through the hot water pipe. (thank goodness it wasn't scalding)

The water sprayed straight across the kitchen and right into the microwave.

So I'm still at work. He calls me, and tells me. My day goes from bad to horrible. He goes to the local hardware store to pick up some hot water pipe patch (goop!) and patches the pipe.

We let the goop set overnight.

Today, we tested it out, and had filled a half tub full of water, when the pipe sprung the leak again.

Now, we have no water. We need to shower, both of us. We have a Christmas party to go to for his work today.

    GO GO SNOOK!

I think I posted on here about our last water situation at my house. Husbands...what are we going to do with them? Good thing they're cute.

  5. lmao ....sorry but that is funny stuff....this is why when stuff goes wacky at our house i just get out the phone directory and call the local guys to fix it vs. letting dad attempt to fix it

but if we called in a professional we couldn't come up with such catchy husband slogans like:

Husband -a flood waiting to happen
Husband -$3,000 because he just had to clean the engine
Husband -$350 because he just had to turn that knob in the back of the closet he told me never to turn

(yes, these things really happened in my household)

See, we need these catchy phrases for all the times we burn dinner and forget to buy the thing they actually took time to write on the grocery list which we didn't bring with us to the grocery store!

Actually, I found handling these things with grace, forgiveness and a "hey, we'll get through this one, we're in this together" attitude is what makes marriage worth while. Got someone in your corner when you really need someone there.

  7. Thank you Sky. I am glad to know that my stupid mistakes are needed. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now.
