OK, just had this rattling around in my head, after reading a thread about how someone thinks it's wrong if Idris' are super expensive when the game starts..

The general rule of thumb was that ships might jump to 3x their current value in UEC once the game starts..

If $1 = 1000 UEC, an Idris is currently $1250 to pledge for, and if it goes up x3; that's $3750 or 3,750,000 UEC.

There's also an assumption that CR mentioned a normal player could make between 8000-10,000 UEC in an hour playing. (definition of normal remains to be seen). So assmue we take it easy and imagine people playing 4 hours in a day. An individual in the corporation will make 32,000 UEC a day.

If we were to take 10 volunteers and have them "work for" the corporation essentially donating that money for the sake of buying a capital ship:

    10 players x 4 hours x 8000UEC/hr = 320,000 per day.
    3,750,000 / 320k = 11.7 days.

So in less than 2 weeks, with 10 people dedicated to grabbing a cap ship in game. Does that seem right or excessively short? I mean if it were any longer then individuals would have a horrible time trying to acquire one alone, but larger guilds have the potential to grab dozens of them in game..

    I can't figure if that's a good or bad thing.. :p

  2. Yeah I have to think the cost of an Idris will be higher in game.

  3. Well you also have to wonder will they have some sort of limitation as too how many can be purchased in any given time period, or will it be based on corp size and that will dictate how many a corp may have. To keep it from becoming an Eve Zerg Fest of a fleet with 100 Cap ships they would almost have to have some limitation I would think. Because if you have 100 people dedicated to doing that in a corp that is 10 Cap ships every 12 days.

But then maybe it is one of those if you have one you best have a big enough fleet to protect it at all times. Anyways that is my thoughts as of now on it....if it makes sense :)

  4. Hopefully this is where our Starfarers will come into play. I also plan on having the RSI Orion mining ship, so hopefully that will make it even better.

  5. Yeah the mining ship is one I want as well.

I think Faith the idea of manufacturing being out of the hands of players is how they'll handle it.. Ultimately if an Idris takes a week to make per factory and there are only 3 factories running; a megacorp ordering 100 of them, the guy at the end will be 33 weeks waiting for his assuming no other orders are in. That and if CIG is actively monitoring the game, there are certain elements (cap ship production and sales) they can look more closely at than others (aurora production and sales).. So they can even intervene behind the scenes I suppose. I doubt though that they'd artificially limit the number of any kind of ship a corp could contain.

On the one hand I like it because it means we can get into a flag ship concept quickly if we want to, on the other, there's a potential for abuse from larger corporations..

In the end this isn't EVE, in that, it's not a race to see who can field all capital ships.. If the instance limit is say 120 people in a zone, if you bring 6 fully crewed Idris' in, that's likely all you'll get in the instance on your side.. And if your opponent brings a crap load of lightly crewed fighters, gladiators and retaliators, the Idris' likely wont last very long.. Once you start juggling the ideas of fleet compliments around, combined with instance limits, it seems very likely that the more balanced fleets will actually come out on top.. Rather than the ones geared to do one thing and one thing only..

  7. OK that sounds good...wasn't aware of how they were handling the manufacturing. Thanks Asp

  8. Well $10 is 10,000 UEC, so an Idris-P is liable to be 1,000,000 UEC. An Idris-M, then (if they sell any ingame) might be closer to 2,250,000 UEC...

I'm sure if they sold a Bengal, which they probably won't, that would be maybe 1,000,000,000 UEC
