OMG! The poor kid! He'll never touch a computer game again after that one... It did give me a chuckle but that was downright nasty for the father that knew what was coming for one as young as that.

/me thinks... "Hey Black... come here a sec and run me through this level!"

I'm with you on this one - poor little guy.

Another serial killer in training :(

  12. I don't see the humor either. To reduce your child to tears, after freaking them out, tape it, and post it - goes beyond the line of decency as a parent IMO.

  13. Agreed. I'm not going to tell anyone how to raise their kid but video taping them all premeditated like to capture real fear is a bit twisted. I've seen this scare medley played on America's Funniest Home Videos as well.

This one is up there with the fake $10,000 scratch offs. I honestly feel horrible for the people that fall to this "joke". In that instant of elation they have just paid off all debts (or most of them), finally can afford that down payment for the dream home, car, business...etc. It all comes crashing down when they flip that winning scratch off over and it says, "You've just been owned...sucker." Then the reality of it all hits. You are not out of debt. You do not have that down payment. You've been duped...on your birthday no less.

Damn that is not a funny joke.

I agree with Hamma. This is how you raise a child to be insane. Posting it on the internet like that indicates no remorse from the parent. What a sick person. I recommend castration. :(

  15. I too find that very disturbing. Thats not a dad in my opinion, He should be flogged. Even more disturbing is that kind of stuff passes as humor. Sometimes I wonder where we as America are going, I can only pray it gets better.

  16. So we're not allowed to play pranks on our kids now? Giving your kid a decent scare is going to turn them into a serial killer and makes you the worst person ever?

I've seen this joke played on people by friends and wives. Does that make them the worst friends/wives ever?

This is nothing like the winning lotto scam, which I agree is cruel. There's no elation here and a mountain lifted off your shoulders as the weight of debt is removed them dumped back on. This is just like someone jumping out from around the corner and going "AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" and you getting scared by it.

I think the problem with America is that people have become so god damn up tight that the theory of "intelligent design" is actually creeping back into schools. If you're worried about kids, worry about their education, not some dad who played a prank on his boy.

Chances are he turned the camera off hugged the boy and helped him feel better. At least he's involved enough in the kids life to take an interest and play a little joke on him.

"Poor Kid" is one of the thousands of kids born in Africa with AIDS every day. Or the kid in Iraq who's Mom just got blown up by a car bomb while trying to go pick up some food. Not this little guy who got a little scare and will go back to his happy suburban life, and most likely, a very loving father. Why don't we try to keep things perspective?

I don't think anyone here is discounting children in Africa or families in Iraq or even soldiers whom have lost their lives overseas. Sounds like you are the one that needs to keep things in perspective ;) This most certainly has nothing at all to do with intelligent design or up tight America - because I agree there. But that has no place in this thread.

Its one thing to play a prank on your child it’s another thing all together to distribute on the internet for everyone to see including his friends and family possibly. Heck maybe he is a loving father we don't know what happens off cam. What we are judging this by is the video we have seen - and it was pretty messed up. We aren't judging the video based off world hunger or geo political issues.

  18. Ok, this was just sick and twisted. A "father" taping his son being scared is one thing...but to continue after the child is crying very obviously scared and the posting it on the internet so that some idiots can get their chuckles off it is just plain wrong.

I agree, that's not a parent. That's completely and utterly ridiculous and you can speculate as to what the father did after the camera was shut off all you want. It's what he didn't do while the camera was that I"m going to focus. Never once did he try to make the boy feel better. He continued to allow the boy to feel scared and didn't offer any comfort. Some might consider this abuse.

    Lastly:
You're kidding me right? I agree with Hamma, no one is saying anything about kids in Africa or Iraq. Those kids aren't in discussion here. The term used "poor kid" was just that, and expression. The poor kid was scared. And jumping someone for a simple expression is just sad.

We're not saying that because we feel bad for this kid we're not worried about our kids education or anything else about our kids. I sent two of my kids off to school where they both get picked on, one because of the way she talks, and the other because he should probably be in a higher grade than what he is. (This is the kid who came home and said that during library he grabbed an encyclopedia and read about metacognition.)

I do worry about my kids...and this has nothing to do with that.
