    Been celebrating since noon. 25 pound bird in the smoker. Everything else in the fridge. Heat and eat when the bird gets done.

    9:30 pm... Bird still in smoker... And the approximate color of a Uniroyal...

    Glad no one was at the house today for this... Then again I wouldn't have gone this route. This smoke ring will go to the bone.

    13 1/2 hours in the smoker. And yes, it is fantastic.

    This actually started as a tradition back when I and all my friends were single. Most of them didn't have family in the area. We would meet at my house. Play video games, watch sci-fi and hang out. Around 6-8 at night the black bird would hit the table and get enveloped. As the years went by the party got smaller and smaller as all of us got into relationships.

    I kept smoking the bird since everything I would want to go do on a day off would be closed anyway. It gave me something to do.

    The last few years we have started getting together on Friday instead. Most of the wives and girlfriends are out shopping. So we can hang out like we used to, just not until 3am anymore.
