HL2 source code hacked (stolen)

Discussion in 'Upcoming Games Discussion' started by PR24, 5 Oct 2003.

  1.

The fans finally had anough and screwed Valve a good one. They hacked into Valve added key stroke software, stole passwords and finally got the source code for HL2.

The fans finally said fuck you Valve

Whoever did that was no fan.

  3. Why does this not surprise me?
HL/CS ruled the "Cheat Market" for the longest time.

Would only be fitting HL2 follows in its father's footsteps.

Whoever did this was some bitch little hacker, who will delay the launch of this game perhaps by months. Who would have thought that one little kid could cause so much trouble

But anyway, we have another thread for this :D

I'd call it an example of how many holes there are in microsoft's windows OS security. Macs are so much better.

Hamma: If Sierra (and most of their sub-contracts) has done anything, its teach me their incompetent, poorly organized, and haven't been able to live up to hardly anything they promise. At least in the last 4 years... (Hmm..Sounds almost exactly like EA)

I find it funny as hell that gamers blame MS for flaws in their os because of hackers and poor programing from game makers, and blame hackers for flaws and poor programing in triple A titles...

One would think you thank them for forceing the company to go a step further to avoid shotty workmanship. I would like to point out, that I have *NEVER* had a fresh install of windows crash before I started installing programs. (discounting WinME!!)

While I agree, this is a bad move on someone's part, but at least if Sierra can't get it out when they say they are going to, maybe that someone will. *shrug*

You jerk, you edited what I said. IMacs suck, but G5s are awesome. OS 10 never crashes while XP randomly decides to crash on startup. If Valve worked on macs this never would have happend.

oops. I just editied the quotes wrong

  11. The only reason so many holes are found in Windows OS' is because they are the OS used on 95% of the worlds computers.

If MacOS was the Dominant OS, then the Security Flaws would be found in that OS and all the Windows people would be crying "OMG Look how flawed MacOS is.... Windows is so secure compared to MacOS"

The same can be said about Linux.

People Hack Windows because they know that they will actually have a chance of doing Something with their hack and not just causing a few people to go "Oh well"

Just wondering if you know that MS 49% (or was it 51?) of Apples stock? :D
Saved them from going belly up!

Oh, I'd check the hardware in that system(s) your seeing crash on boot. You got an issue. I'd suggest starting at the Ram.

No I don't think it has anything to do with ram, sometimes my computer will randomly start up with just everything blue and my mouse, which I can move around, but nothing else shows up.

  14. Just wondering when this became a pissing contest between mac's and pc's.....xp runs on a unix based operating system same as the mac's. Difference is how many macs can you go out and purchase a processor, mainboard, ram, case and hard drive to build from scratch? XP has to support severe amounts more hardware than any mac os so of course they are going to be "more stable" because your running near the same G5 as the next guy that comes along.

    OH and

Maybe video? What card do you have? Do you have the latest n' greatest drivers? Has the problem carried over from past verisons?

If you said Gainward Gforce 4 Ti-4200 128 Golden Sample, and you can still return it, DO SO! If not, replace! High failure rate in those. Shotty capacitors.

I have a GeForce 3 Ti 500, I'm not sure if I have the latest driver for it, but know thats not somthing to mess with unless you know what you are doing, or so I have heard.

Nvidia uses unified drivers, current 2k/XP drivers up for download on their site are 45.23
    Download now!

I would recomend, as always, create a manual restore point (help and support on start menu) before installing any driver. Just in case. Never hurts to un-install the old drivers before installing new ones.
