    Information is power.

But... the challenge is to see the information shared. I think this is where they are going with this organization. If they continue with that in mind it will be successful in rooting out the more organized, larger terrorist cells. The single or pair of terrorists with spur-of-the-moment plans will inevitably accomplish some portion of their plan simply because it is so small and it is not well structured, thus lending to anonymity. But they won't normally be as devastating as we saw on 9-11.

The key to stopping these smaller cells is an alert civilian populace, to include the police.

We must all do our part by remaining vigilant, reporting unusual or suspicious activity and generally realizing its a different world now.

  3. Dude I realize that every day I wake up.. :(

I don't know about anyone else, but it's wierd.. Every morning right before I click the link to CNN on my web browser, I have this thought going on in the back of my brain.. Am I going to read about the next attack today? Is it just me?

  4. I'm with you on that 'cide.

As far as the Homeland department, it's like putting a alarm sticker on your house. The bad guy may want to risk breaking in, but they know now they may get stopped.

I read both CNN and Foxnews.

CNN gives me the liberal far off leftwing view on news, FOX News gives me the closer to home right wing view on life. I don't usually get as frustrated reading foxnews as I do when I read CNN...

    Here's what I think.

If someone wants to blow something up they're going to find a way to do it. There's not much you can do to stop them. Well short of stripping away every freedom this country has. George Carlin said it best. "Most Americans are soft, and frightened and unimaginative." also "Airport security is a stupid idea, it's a waste of money, and it's only there for one reason... to make white people feel safe."

Samething with this new homeland waste of time.

The world isn't complicated it's just us Americans that seem to have this misconception that if we over sophisticate somehow we are going to be safe.

You want to be safer? Here's what you do. Everytime they kill one of us we kill 1000 of them. Make the consequences so severe that the mere thought of commiting an act against us strikes fear in their hearts.

  15. Somehow, I don't think that's going to work. It makes sense at first, until you begin to understand the mindset of a fundamentalist arab. These are people who believe that, when they die, they will go to heaven and be awarded gifts. The more they have done in life to fight against the christain crusaders, the bigger the gifts they get from allah when they die.

The attackers have absolutely no concern for their lives. They fly planes into buildings, they drive boats into cruisers, they put a bomb on their own body and blow themselves up. If they don't care for their own lives, how will they be afraid at our threats to kill them? The only way I think they would be afraid, is if we had a way to wipe them all out at once. Then their idea will die, and that is far more scary to them than physical death of their bodies.

That's what worries me the most about the situation. You have to kill them ALL at once. No, not arabs, the vast majority of whom are innocent. But the fundamentalist millitant ones who are seeking to destroy western civilization. You only kill a handfull at a time, and it pisses off the rest who remain. They aren't afraid of being killed, so much as they are afraid they will die before they are able to suicide a bomb into an important target.

Oh it'll work. You don't see any planes smacking into buildings anymore. You don't see any buildings falling. They're all too busy running for their lives as missles and artillery kill everyone around them.

  17. It will not stop anything. The only way to stop terrorism is to kill the terrorists, destroy their supporting states, blah blah blah, which is being done.

The whole of the homeland security bill was passed recently is that it will hurt the democrat in the louisiana race on dec, 7th. regardless of how she votes, either her hard line core voters, or her moderate supporters, will not be pleased. The daschel amendment made things 10 times worse for her as well. In addition, it gives Bush some additional power to place merit based promotions to the workers that earn them, and some hiring/firing powers as well, though all of these are subsidiary, they could have been rubber stamped out as soon as talent is sworn in and Lott has the senate majority position.

And Hamma, how is fox biased? they let colms,O'Reilly, their guests, their various liberal contributors have equal time. There is only 1 conservative on CNN, granted he is the self styled prince of darkness, but come on.

Don't say O'Reilly is a conservative, his answer to everything begins with the words "The government needs to...",doesn't sound like a conservative to me.

And damnit, can they stop playing that damned clip of him holding the baby over the railing?

    Officer
I was reading an article about fox news and how the majority of their guests are republican.. it was like 87% or somthing compared to the other networks were like 60/40 or similar.

Dunno, maybe its wrong, either way I watch CNN and/or MSNBC
