I read it, and I thought it was the stupidest thing that I ever saw. I bet the bastard that sued about it has no problem spending all the "In God We Trust" money in his pocket.

  2. Huge debate on our server VN boards about it. I chose not to participate.

I post there. Lot more people post their than here, but its not to the insane level of TW.

So... does that mean money is unconstitutional? I say the ACLU needs to give up all it's unconstitutional money and give it to us fanatic conservatives who do not consider the mentioning of God to be unconstitutional.

    :p

It wasn't the ACLU this time. It was some joker from sacramento that's an Athiest and didn't think that it ws right to have to say the plege that way.

But like you said, I bet he's not offended by the print on our money.

  10. I'm not trying to start a fight with any of those who are religious, as I am not myself, I do not believe in any god, in any form.

    But...
I could see the point of those that do believe in a different god then those that are Christian and believe in the whole God, Jesus, Moses type thing and how they may be offended by the "under God" or "In God We Trust" on money. Not that I agree, but I could see their point.

Now, when I read those phrases, I could care less. It doesn't bother me and in the same aspect I wouldn't waste my time making a big stink about it having taken out of society. So on the other hand, I do think it's a bit crazy that they are (or are trying) to abolish them.

    :)

You know I've figured it out. We used to let things go that were insignificant. We don't let anything go now. We are a nation of overweight complainers who fale to take responcability for our own actions.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation's underwear, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

  13. im sorry to say this, but i partially agree with the ruling. Personally i think they should simply remove the "under god" portion of the pledge. those two words represent the 1950's anti-communism paranoia It was passed during the 50's, signed in by eisenhower, and is a perfect example of the feelings of the era. I would be perfectly happy if the pledge were to be returned to its origional form, without the "under god" portion, as our founders intended, preserving seperation of church and state. As much as i hate to say it, the judges are right.

  14. I don't really have a problem with the 'under God' being in or out of the Pledge of Allegiance, mostly because of the fact that I have never recited it in any other way.

To me, no words need to be said in order to hold a sense of patriotism, honor, whatever you may call it, towards something, be it an ideal, an idea, or a physical thing. I have always held both the United States Flag and the Pledge of Allegiance as symbols towards the liberty and democracy that we hold as our basic standards in the United States. To me, they are no more then a piece of cloth and words, meant to symbolize something that cannot be held within our hands, or spoken, but can only be contained within our lives, and it is our choice to live that which the flag and the pledge symbolize.

[There's my patriotic duty quota for the month :p]

  15. well...when this country was formed many many years ago..it was formed as one nation under god...its just another part of our history that we are trying to erase...but those are just my thoughts....we only remember the parts of our history that will benifit us personally...

It was just added in there in the 50s.

I partially agree with it. But besides that, my fav thing was this morning on the Todays Show, they interviewed the guy who filed suit. Katy says "So I understand your getting death threats" and he says "yea, it must be the people with god on their side" :

    The guys a dick.

  19. The whole thing about it is that in a way it is disagreeing with the contititsion. (cant spell). By saying one nation under god, it is pretty much saying he helped form and protect us. Well what about the buddist in the country? The jewish? the whole freedom of religon. And how religon cant be taught in school?

Every day for 13 years I said the lines "Under God" In a school where you arent suppose to have any religous influece... Well there it is... I am basiclly saying my allegeince to my country which and god. He has a valid argument.
