Interguild Alliance Intentions

Ok, so some of you may have heard by now that we at SD are trying to set up some serious Alliance goodness for the betterment of our guilds and several others in the WoW sector. I posted this to our website forum, but I want to make sure everyone knows what's going on from our point of view.

    /begin massive post

To look at how every other end game running guild has accomplished their goals, you irrevocably come to guild merging. Merging is what gets you the numbers to run that content smoothly. I remember back in last December getting offers from other guilds to merge with them, and then days later saw them get merged into VANQUISH. Yeah, it seems lame, but does it get the job done? Absolutely.

That being said, I thought about what exactly merging accomplishes. No matter how you do it, once you get enough people together, cliques will form, people will do their own thing, etc. It's inexcapable, do a /who Vanquish, or regulators, or Imperium. If they're not running end game content, their members are all over the place. The key here is to make sure you can schedule the raids and get people to show up.

So, where does that leave us small guilds? Will we constantly scrape at MC's door, fighting our way to Mag and leaving all proud, and then next week not being able to gather the numbers? Will we get pissed off at each other when we wipe and blame those issues on the other guild we're with?

Or, will we get over it, grow up, and make something happen. My goals are thusly:

    1. Unified DKP, ensuring no guild has preference.
    2. A set schedule of times so everyone knows what is happening when.
    3. Unified Voice Chat: The best way to ensure everyone is communicating
    4. Further inter-guild work, by spending more time raiding together than segregated amongst each other.

Effectively, I'm saying we merge under a named Alliance, without actually merging. We all keep our names/tabards, but we work together, we raid together, and we show everyone that you don't need to be a part of a 60+ member guild to accomplish your goals for this game. The only thing preventing this from working is people saying it can't, which I've heard from a few people.

    I say, prove them wrong.

As of right now, these are the guilds involved in setting this up:
    Stacked Deck
    Clan Draconus Lupus
    Praxium
    Schyzm

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems all of us agree on the following DKP system. It favors no guild in particular, focusing on the players individually:

DKP is gained and spent on items in MC, BWL, and Onyxia. These DKP go to the player, not the character individually. If you spend the time in there on both characters, you deserve an equal chance at the loot.
1 pt for saying you will be there
1 pt for being on time and prepared
1 pt for each boss defeated

When loot drops, you may say you'd like to have the item. Of those that claim an item, the person with the highest DKP wins and resets their DKP to 0. For "trash loot" (Fiery/Lava Cores, etc.) a person may claim the item, with the person with the highest DKP still winning, but they only lose one point in this case. All ties in DKP are decided by a /roll 100.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for scheduling times, I would like to see something like the following. Please notice this is not an official schedule yet, just an example of what I'd like to see.

    Sunday: MC @ 6pm
    Monday: PvP runs @ 6pm, PvP runs @ 9pm
    Tuesday: Onyxia @ 6pm
Wednesday: MC pt 2 @ 6pm (until we can do it in one night)
    Thursday: Instance @ 6pm, Instance @ 9pm
    Friday: ZG @ 6pm
    Saturday: Instance @ 6pm, Instance @ 9pm, Instance @ Midnight

To clarify: MC and ZG are our unified runs there. Onyxia runs are the same, scheduled for a specific night/time, but if we lack the people that are keyed we run people through the key quests until we can run it regularly. PvP Runs are a night for just running BGs together. Instance times give times for people to request their runs to Ubrs, Strat, etc to get any other gear they lack for the end game content.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

For Unified Voice, CDL has offered their TS server. It's on a massive pipe, and can hold more people than we'll ever need. SD's server is the same, but a bit more awkward, with alot of unrelated channels.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

For further inter-guild work I point towards the mod GuildAds. It offers a way for members to see who is on in all the guilds and communication between them. FOr further information see the post on necessary mods. Also, unified voice would go a long way for this.

Also, pursuit of hot bitches is in order.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

So that's it, a bit lengthy, but it gets the points across. I strongly believe that the best way to get all of our members to where they want to be is to work together and have more than just the necessary 40. There should be competition for spots, it makes sure that the people that want to be there are the ones that go and you're not "forcing" anyone to come just to fill in a slot. It's easy enough to say, "If you didn't get to go last time, you get preference this time," and we can easily track that with DKP

Post your thoughts, please, I'm not the only one interested in this.

Sounds like you have put alot of thought into this, and thusly from what I can see it seems like a very solid start. Everything you have posted looks good and well within reach if everyone can/will follow through with these items. Hencefore I /sign.

  3. I'm a WoWer, and I have absolutely no idea how this will all work out (I solo, and I'm not getting into the Dungeon-questing-grinding levels yet), but if the leadership agreed to this, I'll trust them and do what I'm told.

    Where can I get GuildAds?

  4. He left out "pursuit of hot bitches" in section IV...

Just to update, I'd like to get GuildAds up and running tomorrow, so if we don't agree on a name by then I'm going to make the channel we use for it TheAlliance.

    Later guys/gals

Looks reasonable enough to me, it'll be interesting to see how it works out. :D

I could probably adapt a copy of our DKP app to track that stuff without incurring very much work, if necessary...
