Don't you see? Kiwi died to fulfill his dream! He arduously created a vertical forest, tree by tree, nail by nail, to experience what he always wanted to do. It all led to one climactic moment, the best moment of his life, which ended with his death. One may be saddened by his death, but it acts as sort of a catharsis. If he lived, afterwards, he would have nothing left to look forward to in life. He already went through the greatest thing he would ever experience in his entire life. Thus, Kiwi represents someone who has lived the ideal life!
