Long Time, No Kill

    Wow... its been over 2 months now that I've not visited these hallowed halls... something I hope not to repeat...after 2 months, there's a lot of reading to do to catch up...

    Well, its been about 4 months now without internet access... and I must say that while it sux...life does go on. I've also gotta say that I really miss fighting along side my CDL brother.

    I've been working at a Borders book store in Ft. Worth for the past 2 months or so - you'd think that a degree would warrant better than $6 bucks an hour, huh? I took the job because I needed anything, and planned on continuing a search for a better job, but its more difficult to do than I would have liked to have believed.

    At the moment I'm deciding on what direction to take for the next few years of my life - graduate school, or service in the military, probably Air Force. With my degree, and computer experience and training, I'd hope to gain commission as an officer, and work with space systems or teaching in the Air Force. I'm strongly considering a full career in the military. If I did grad school, I'd just get my Masters and then PhD (a la history) and start teaching at a Univ somewhere (that being the eventual goal). Even if I did military, I still plan on getting my Masters and PhD, but that would be on the side during my time of service, potentially 20 years.

    So I've gotta get on a lot of research and preparation as I try and make some decisions that will affect the rest of my life.

    I didn't plan on spilling my guts here... just wanted to let you guys know what's up... and that I miss gaming with such a great group of peeps...

    If I can get back on the internet, I will - and you guys will be the first to know, but for the moment, I've gotta stay in exile.

    I definitely hear understand where you are coming from. I graduated with a degree in computer science and (much like your situation) had to take a job as a CSR for the entertainment book because I needed a job ASAP. It sucks terribly.......

    I am also on the verge of making some pretty big "life decisions". I am most likelly going to follow the path that I want to follow, not what others think I should follow. I would recommend you do the same.... [start cliché mode] You only live once [end cliché mode]

    Best of luck to you DS - which ever path you may decide on.

    I'm mostly struggling with either going in a direction that will definately provide for a family (= a wife and then kids that I hope to have at some point in the not too distant future), or one that might do so eventually.
    You know that whole providing financial security thingy. I just gotta keep thinking and praying about what the right course is.
