My God! Not the nicest way to go...

This is the second person to die this way in 6 months here. The first was just before Christmas at the mother plant in Toronto of the company I work for. It's a big shredder that used to rip up foam (seating, underlay, etc...) scrap to be recycled as furniture and toy stuffing and chipped foam underlay before it's baled in 1000lb units.

Not a pretty sight. From what I understood for the fellow that died this way at our company, the only part left was an arm. Investigation later found that a switch to sense over a certain weight and shut the system down was faulty. The company was fined a hefty sum and made a very generous restitution to the family but no $ figure could cover that loss. Our company is large enough that the costs hurt but were able to recover. I could imagine that this one would shut down this company since they're a very small outfit.
