My personal family july 4th ruminations and adventure

Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by Swift As Feather, 9 Jul 2005.

  1. After Mani's patriotic post around the 4th of july, i decided to post some pics of our small family trip across our state to visit my wifes parents on their farm. On the way we stopped at our state capitol, Pierre. We visited the recently erected war memorial at the capitol grounds dedicated to WWII, vietnam, and the korea war. Then we went to the local museum, where I had heard my Aunt mention that my Uncle's Artifacts (my fathers brother) were donated for display. My father served 23 years in the Air force as well, also going to korea and flew in the ov10 as a flight surgeon. Here's some pics at the Pierre capitol and museum.

  2. OMG!! *gasp* was that .. dare i say.. a Minivan ?? :) Wonderful pics :)

you know we drove thru Mitchell, SD one time, and as your driving along there are all of these signs that say come visit the Corn Palace. SD's most famous attraction and they are very upset the were not chosen to be the capital of SD(this was very evident in their presentations they give when you take the tour). So to show everyone that they could actually do something they created the Now Famous Corn Palace. They have murals made out of corn (different colored corn for texture and appearance) and they cover this building EVERY YEAR in Corn! of all things! Just to say :p to people who thought them not worthy :) They even have a pretty cool corny doll musem there too.

Neat place up in that neck of the woods Swifty :) Awsome dedications to the men and women who serve!

Very nice pics, Swifty. The one of the pilot getting into the plane is really striking. Nice way to spend your weekend.

Your son has an irresistible face..."Give me back the juice box. I wasn't finished shaking juice all over the interior of the car...Give it back or this means war! *sniff*" /me hands him the juice box because...OMG, look at that face! <3
