My Pro Media 5.1 Amp is dead :(

    I had heard numerous reports of the pro media having amp issues but seeing as I have had the speakers for over 3 years I thought maybe I lucked out...... I guess not :( What really pisses me off is that I baby-ed these speakers like a freaking mother.... I told them they sounded nice when they were feeling blue, I told them to cheer up on rainy days, I gently carressed them when they were scared..... um.... what was I talking about again?!?

    $90 to repair.

    Anyone else have similar issues with computer speakers?

    p.s. I won't be in TS for awhile cause I won't be able to hear you all anyway :p

    Damn. $90 to repair? What was the original cost?

    If I were you, I'd go get the Z-5500s by Logitech. Friggin awesome speakers. Or, if you're on a budget, the X-530s are pretty nice.

    but anyways, I own a Promedia 4.1 set and a Promedia 5.1 Ultra set, both of which work fine and sound great (to the trained ear).

    try testing them, the bass is way off on the kliptch, the mids and highs are also more krisp and clean and lower and mid volumes.

    I know my sounds and speakers.....if you come to the ralley you'll see what im talking about in my truck.

    I had an early model release of the Pro Media 5.1 and it died within a month and I had to exchange it for a new set making sure to get a later model number. A few months ago after having no problems with them for years, I starting having to really rotate the knob and mess with the volume because only a couple speakers would work and then I would get a huge static pop and finally all speakers would be working, but would have to do the whole process over if I wanted to lower or raise the volume a little.

    I finally tossed them and got the Logitech Z-5500s last month and they are awesome, no complaints so far and the remote volume control is pretty convenient.

    My Klipsch always did that ever since they were new. They also always had a big electrical discharge sound when shutting off the speakers that didn't sound natural either, but everyone on their forums said it was normal.

    Yeah I had the discharge thing when turning them off too. I'm giving the repair thing one chance and if they die again I will move on to something else when I have the funds (non-klipsch). :mad:

    I refuse to give anyone anymore links to cool stuff, as Mrs. Mani will tear my head off and use it as a stool in the kitchen. It is true. I got an e-mail from her today detailing the pain that I will have to endure if I did.

    Sentrosi is no-go for tech links.

    She is JUST that mean guys and girls.
