Need Help

Tell her to go to the url mentioned in the splash screen that comes up when you go into T2. It is something like http://sierraupdates.com or something like that. It is in that splash window that pops up Throne... she will go there and it will download the first file she needs. Then she can begin the rest of the patches...

That's the first update.

I had this problem once before when I was trying to patch out of order. For example I was at version 2 and was trying to install a patch that went from 1-3, not 2-3. As soon as I got the right one it worked great.

 

Well that is all good and great but I don't think it'll work.
I think that on my CD something has gotten messed up. It stops the dl when it gets to base\deasert.v12 and gives me that error.

I even tried getting Throne's deasert.v12 file and it still didn't work. It says that the Old File isn't found. Does that mean that I need to dl the whole patch b/f mine? or what.

Anyway...it's the deasert.v12 that is causing the problems.

Any idea's?

 

damn, ok, try the tribes first aid thing found at this this page it checks the files and if one is bad from the installation it copies the file from the cd and supposed to fix it

 

That's just it I tried that and it didn't work. When I did the 'Copy Files' thing and it got to that file it tried like 2250 times (no lie) before i gave up and closed it

 

Pan, e-mail sierra about your problems and I believe they will replace your CD.

or... Tribes 2 sells for $9.99 these days. may be worth the investment if it saves you hours and hours of trying to fix the problems you're having with your current copy.

Try installen to a different directory, sometimes yer directory gets all fuxored and if ya try some place new it gets unconfused.

 

I still think the problem is that your getting the wrong patchs.

I had the exact same problem once and it was due to the patches. Instead of letting the updater patch you Tribes 2 with one really big patch have someone send you their patchs, and you can try them one at a time.

T2 is onlyt $9.99?! I saw T1 for the same price 2 months ago. LOL How the mighty have fallen.

 

I saw Fallout 1 and 2 on sale togeather for $9.99. How long do oyu think it will be until T1, ad T2 get the same treatment?

And also Great Dane I will try getting the patches from someone and do them one by one. I have e-maild Sierra with my problem and waiting for a reply.

Jest go to www.tribalwar.com or www.planettribes.com they have all the patches their available for download.

Then when the auto patch kicks in just tell it you already have the patch.

 

ok I e-mailed Sierra and this was their reply

Error # 1. Old file not found
Error # 2. No update done since files don't match

1. Uninstall and reinstall the program
Install:

First Uninstall the program from ( Control Panel - Add/Remove program )
remove the program
Next Remove any remaining Program files from the ( Desk Top) and from your
( C:\ Drive )
Next ( Reboot ) the computer.
Next ( Disable any Virus Detection ) that may be running
Next ( Disable the Background programs all except Explorer and Systray )
Do this by pressing and holding CTRL / ALT on the lower left side of the
keyboard then press DELETE
this will bring up a close program box.
Highlight each item and select END TASK one item after another until all you
have left is SYSTRAY and EXPLORER
Now ( Reinstall the program ).
When finished ( Reboot the computer ) and run the program

2. Dont try to use the same patch The patch could be corrupted
Redownload and rerun the patch


I figure I'll try that tho i'm not sure it'll work. We have totalle reformated my comp shouldn't that have done something?

anyway I'll get my bro or dad to do this and if it doesn't work Sierra sucks (jk)

hey Pan, this might sound silly, but have you checked to see if your CD is dirty? It might have fingerprints or some scratches on it that prevent it from reading correctly.
