    I got an email from my Mother-in-law today asking me for some input on some PC hardware. So I gave my feedback to her and whenever I send out email my messages have a Sig attached to them basically an animated Gif file with my name and a logo of the company I work for, the actual file size of the gif is like 162kb.

    Anyways I got this message back from the dumbass company I thought was funny as shit, I figured I would share it with you.

    BTW this file that they sent me back this message on was 3402 Bytes.

    rejected because it included an unauthorized file type. Our e-mail is
    restricted to valid business-purposes only. No games, videos,
    pictures, gif files, etc. not related to our business functions are
    allowed.

    While we value enjoying work and having fun, our primary goal is to
    service our customers better. We can't do that if our computers are
    down from an introduced computer virus or incompatible program.

    Many of these messages are really large, too. Our Wide Area Network
    datalines are sized to accommodate our business use. We don't want to
    inconvenience our customers because the WAN lines are clogged up with
    sending some huge MPEG movie file.

    The other alternatives would be to add additional resources to
    compensate for all the problems these e-mails give us. We'd have to pass
    those considerable costs onto our customers, and they don't want that.

    Please understand that we're not trying to be rude, inconvenience, or
    insult you. We're just maintaining our priorities, and that means our
    customers first.

    Sometimes we make mistakes, too. If we rejected something in error, or
    if your have any questions, please e-mail postmaster@kirbycorp.com.
    We'll respond quickly to your message.

    Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!"

    Well I dont blame them :p we block attachments from opening where I work. Its not fun when you have to work all night cleaning up a virus because some dumbass ran a file :|

    No such thing as a harmless file!!! Code red/Nimda hit us from a user who brought their service laptop in from the field. Estimated cost to the company for 2 days at 2.5 million dollars (us). And we have 3 differant vendors feeding our Anti-virus (servers, exchange and desktop) so if one doesn't catch it, the next in line should. My start page is an Anti-virus update page so everytime I open my browser I see any currently listed virus (some days you will see 2 or 3 in an hour or two.) We take it very serious.

    we block about everything known to man now. With Flash now having the ability to spread worms along with other seemingly harmless things we take no chances ourselves.

    At our company, if you bring in or let a virus in, your department is liable starting at $250,000 (US) in cleaning and repair.
