New Concept Ship Incoming

Discussion in 'Star Citizen Public Discussion' started by Hyncharas, 18 Aug 2016.

  1. For those who have been keeping track of Star Citizen's coverage during Gamescom will know about it already, but for those who haven't, a special event called "Help the Herald" has been unfolding on RSI and Twitter. What began Tuesday, the studio is asking for 5,000 retweets to decipher an image of a new ship in development and, whilst we don't know what it will be, the latest image allows us to make some conclusions:

The most obvious shot is of the Anvil logo just below and right of the cockpit, as well as a deployment ramp in the midsection. It's hard to tell without the full image, but its silhouette appears to suggest it is a reworked version of 3Dingo's entry from The Next Great Starship, the Anvil Phoenix. If this is the case, it's likely an announcement will happen either Friday, or next week...

With only 900 more retweets needed, head here to help out (Note that users can only retweet once - if you retweet again, it will negate your involvement).

  2. So turns out it wasn't the Phoenix - more's the pity. Instead it is the (formerly Aegis) Terrapin, which was offered last year as a new mining starter ship:

The Terrapin is now available for purchase with LTI, whilst a Takuetsu model and poster for your hangar will be implemented at a later date:

The URSA Rover is also now available independent of Constellation purchases, as is a bundle containing both the URSA and Greycat PTV:

All purchases must be made by 29th August.

    [UPDATE]

A Drake Dragonfly Yellowjacket Poster is now available for purchase, while stocks last:

  4. Sunday 20th August will be the last day of the Star Citizen livestream at Gamescom. To celebrate this, therefore, Disco Lando has put forth a proposal...

For EVERY hour of the stream with 4,000+ viewers, the team will be giving away a Terrapin ship package with LTI! To participate you must enter !raffle every hour, and then be on hand at the top of the hour to "message" StarCitizen, submitting your Account Name and Email.

    10am to 6pm CEST
    1am to 9am PDT
    8am to 4pm UTC

Winners will receive their prize packages to their accounts next week. Good luck!

  5. The first set of Q&A for the Terrapin was released yesterday:

Unexpectedly, people aren't really being told much of anything about what else it can do... besides analysing fleet deployments, that is. This confirms what Foundry 42 told me earlier in the week, as its near-sole purpose seems to be reconnaisance in one form or another.

However, a second Q&A will be made available tomorrow, at which point I will add to the post.

    [UPDATE]
The second set of questions have finally been posted, following today's ATV:

The term "flying brick" springs to mind, with dramatic effect, as much of what CR indicated during Gamescom in the presentation slides appears out of date at the moment, particularly in terms of its stats. It is possible the ship will eventually allow for Search-and-Rescue duties but, from the sounds of it, that's a loooonnnnng way off given how they imply (way too often) this is a military vessel for recon...

If you want security for the fleet, buy this, but I don't think it would be cost-effective right now for exploration.
