I know what you're thinking.. "From you???? No way!"..

Everytime I visit a webpage, like the CDL forums here, its like any user info is reset. If I close my browser, and start it up again, I'll be prompted for my username and password again. It never seems to save it here or on any site. I've got cookies on accept 1st and 3rd party (which I don't normally do, 3rd party ones), but nothing stays. I never had this problem on other machines. Is there some setting I'm missing here? The cookies are being created, but it never seems to remember my information.

    weird..

  2. use something other than IE maybe?

Perhaps it's your cookies...do you clean them out everytime you log out of IE?

Ya, I make sure I check that part.. doesn't help.. and I don't clear them out when I exit IE.. In fact if I surf the forums long enough it'll actually ask me to log in again while I'm surfing..

meh.. I just started using Firefox again, which is better anyway, and it works fine.. stupid windows.. :p

  7. The way that the forums store your password is hashing. When you tell it to save your password, it does a hash and puts that in a cookie. When you tell it to remember your password, the site does a hash and compares it to the one in your cookie to verify. If you clear cookies every time you exit IE you'll lose your saved password.

A hash is a one-way encryption algorithm that creates a string of gibberish from your password. Hashing a string of text with the same formula results in the same string of gibberish every time.

Hmm, well something must be corrupt in the way IE compares or stores that kind of thing, because without fail if I check the page, close IE and then re-open IE and check the page again, I have to login again. Firefox doesn't have this issue currently, so I'll stick with that :)

I like the tabs better anyway..
