Insert joke about falling damage or should have used slow fall...... it would just be too easy.

  3. Was it Taiwan or Chinese that had the player die from a 30+ hour binge without food and water?

  7. This is rediculous.. if a 13 year old kid can't figure out that falling in real life = dangerous, he was messed up before playing WoW and was going to pull some other retarded darwinian death anyway.

Perhaps the parents should also sue the construction company who built said building for making it tall enough to die from falling off of.

Then the people/businesses who inhabit it for encouraging the construction company.

Don't forget to sue the PC and accessories manufacturers, the store that sold it, the ISP, the company that installed and or the company that maintains the line for internet connection.

Sue the electric company that supplied power for the PC.

Did the kid ride a bike to this building? Sue the bike manufacturer..store..etc.

Also, may want to sue the city that allowed said building to be built, and for making roads and such to access the building. Then the country and their government for allowing such dangerous objects.

Or, better yet, someone should sue the parents for raising an idiot.

He is from China. His parents can't sue, else they get the firing squad.

Ceremonial suicide. I wonder what was so horrible in real life that he had to escape permanently into game content.

    RIP, young one.

Maybe some day your parents will try to understand what motivated you to seek peace for your soul in a mere game and perhaps they will strive to better understand and comfort what family they have left.

  11. A reply, which turned another direction.

Maybe he WAS just re-enacting something out of WoW. Maybe it wasn't even a long fall, but he landed on his head. Maybe his parents were just angry and lashed out at the closest thing to his death. He was only 13. Unless I misunderstood something in your post, what you said really nags me. My philosophy has always been, don't pass judgement, if at all, unless you fully understand what you are trying to judge, whether it be people or situations, and the article barely talked about the deceased.

I've been in situation where, yeah, I would re-enact movie scenes when hanging out with my friends, and lots of times, there are a lot of stunts. What if I threw myself onto the ground, crack my head open because of a hidden rock, and died. Would I have died because my life was too absorbed into movies because real life was so horrible? No, I died because I was goofing off with friends.

And to the others that have posted. Some jokes are funny. some jokes aren't, and a few of the jokes are down right racist.

I hate, HATE, making serious posts. It makes me feel down, and it makes the readers feel down. But since I'm this far, I might as well continue. Lately, there have been a few things running in my head about what CDL stand for, and something disturbed me, mostly with how the whole Peacemaker(ThePeacemaker) situation unfolded. I don't know Peacemaker that well at all, that's true, but what I do know is, he's a good man, silly at times but still good. I've heard about what happened and why he left the guild(since I wasn't really around during that period of time because of classes and work) and I believe it was a valid reason. But really, he just came on to Teamspeak to talk to people interested in the same thing, that being EVE. Oh, and Sent, the reason he was whispering to you was because he wanted to say hi, I thought that was pretty nice of him to greet what old clanmates of his. The next day he messeges me in EVE saying he can't join TS, so I thought, what the heck, maybe someone thought he was some random crazy person who figured out the TS password and registered himself. So I gave him the server password. Honor warn me for it or take me out of CDL, but yes, I gave him the password. He comes on, and maybe two minutes later he's kicked and banned. While trying to figure out what happened, I find the thread about how the server password has been changed. I can't really describe how I felt. Mani, you're a great guild leader, and I really like you as a person, but that explaination of why Peace could not come into our teamspeak, even though I invited him to chat with us about EVE, shook the foundation of what I believed was honor in CDL. There are many cases of what happened to Peacemaker recently that has happened in the past where I just sat idly by without a word, but it's getting tiring. You guys are a great group of people and I hope to still be gaming with you years into the future, but the underlying messege sent out to Peacemaker with the password change thread made me sick to my stomach. I've been uneasy for a while, but this thread just gave enough of a push to tip me over the edge.

Anyway, I hate drama and my reply is oozing with it. So for you other drama haters, I'm sorry, I typing this hurt more than it hurts for you to read it(if you're reading it at all).

Ouro, if you have questions please PM me or catch me on TS sometime. There is a lot of information behind decisions we make that people don't see. Every tough decision is arrived at by sometimes lengthy discussions in the Officers' forums.

I won't go into detail here as we are in an open public forum and I wish to respect the privacy of this team and those involved. But I am willing to chat any time you wish.

I merely posted my thoughts on a topic of this forum. Perhaps if I'd called the boy an idiot or his parents retarded for suing Blizzard I would not have offended you so. Parents suing someone for their child's suicide seems a bit misdirected to me. Plus the mention of the involvement of an activist who seeks to highlight the dangers of internet addiction leads me to think the parents themselves believed their son may have been spending a bit too much time in internet fantasy land and not enough time in real life-something parents do have some degree of control over.

...but thank you for your judgement.

  14. No where in the article did it mention suicide. Based off of how you worded your first post, and what you have just posted, your opinion seem strongly favors the fact that you believe something was wrong with the person that he would wish to kill himself. While I agree with you that suing over such a matter is perplexing, activists pounce on such events, that's why they're activists. How do they know that he was re-enacting something out of WoW? It could just be the parents' guess, or friends of the child witnessing the stunt gone horribly wrong. Also, remember he lived in an asian country where internet cafe are in abundance. Of course, here in a western country, it's much easier to control what your child does or doesn't do and for how long on the internet, but a trip to the library there could just mean four hours at the local game hole.

"According to Chinese news agency Xinhua, the parents, who reside in the city of Tianjin, claim the boy jumped to his death whilst re-enacting a scene from the game."

From the article, the parents claim the boy *jumped* to his death from the roof of a building. From the way the article reads, it appears that in their opinion it was suicide. According to the article, the parents are the ones doing the suing. They are suing someone else for their son's suicide.

I know internet cafe's are prolific in the east, but I believe if a parent wanted to intervene badly enough, they would find a way, even in the east. Are you a parent, Ouro?

Now if what you're actually saying is we can't rely on anything we read today to be accurate because journalism is so corrupt and journalists put a marketing spin on everything to bring us riveting, sensational stories so they can sell papers, sell commercials; activists sometimes distort events to sell their opinion; I have to agree with you to some degree. ...But if you're saying noone here has the right to make comments on a story they've read or to have an opinion about something they've read, I disagree.

  16. ... why do you always feel the need to put a line or two at the end of all of your posts that makes the person you're replying to seem like they had 100% worse of intents than they did.

  17. Jumped to his death for me says nothing about suicide. They use the same words when bungee cords break and someone dies.

No, I'm not a parent, but I am young enough to know that no matter what parents to do, if you just try to force your kids to do something, they won't just all of a sudden agree. You could ground him, pull out all the internet connections in the house, and you know what? He'd just ditch school if he really wanted to, and as a parent, you can't do much.

Oh, I absolutely agree that news, and media of any type alter and distort the stories they report on to sell. And I respect everyone's opinion, especially the more mature audience. I just didn't agree with you on the view in your first post. And I believe I have the right to disagree and debate it, correct?

I suppose the line or two at the end is what I consider to be more the heart of the matter.

  19. Then I'm sorry to say that your take on the 'heart of the matter' is, usually, morosely skewed and quite mistaken.
