These are awesome sights! This would be the week that Black and myself plus a bunch of others would go camping a good distance in Northern Ontario. The meteor shower display each night was an amazing sight. We'd all set up in a clearing and watch the night sky for hours. Some of them, you could see the flaming contrail on them because of it being so dark.

I went one year up north of where I live to a park outside of the many lights around here.

I saw quite a few, but one was amazing. It looked like a boat with a nice wake on each side going across the sky! It was awesome! I have never seen one so big or with that type of trail.

    Awesome stuff.

I will check that out tonight, far away from the city lights here :brow:

My boss was telling me that his son, daughter-in-law, wife and him are going up to Lake George to do some camping. There are several small islands up there that are perfect for camping and 'getting away from it all'. One year I want to take my family up there, camp out under the stars, and watch these meteors. I won't be able to see them at work because the Empire State Plaza lights up like the Griswold's home from Christmas Vacation.

I hope where we're at in Tennessee that the views at night are spectacular. Because that's one of my wishes at the rally. Just a bunch of us around a campfire spinning yarns, roasting marshmallows and/or hot dogs, and just enjoying each other as a family.

  7. Awesome, after reading this I went outside to take a look and saw a big one streak by straight overhead.

Tonight, even in my city light polluted backyard sky, I saw quite a few! Saw some really strong ones. Saw a faint one split, that was really cool!

A few others that were normal for this part of town.

Would love to be out where I could see more than about twenty stars in the sky. That's about all I can see around here. City lights suck!!

In my backyard I have to get in the shadow of my garage. There are two street lights about fifty feet from each other. So I get close to my garage which blocks one, then a large evergreen I have blocks the other.

But, I did get to see some good fireworks done by Mother Nature! So, that's all that matters!! Took about three hours to see about seven streaks, but that is cool, considering.

Anyone get any video? I was going to, but with the poor quality of night sky I figured it would be useless to try.

No videos here. Albany was overcast with a couple of very small breaks in the cloudcover late Sunday night/early Monday morning. Was upset because they were saying that this was going to be one of the biggest in ages.

Hoping next year is a lot better weather for this.

  12. The sky in Eastern Manitoba was amazing. The meteor shower was constantly giving us a light how. My son saw one early in the evening that literally blew up into many shining pieces only a few miles away. That was pretty neat.
