Planetside: The Refugees of Pie

Hi CDL,

This is Airlift from the PSU forums. I am the leader of a rag-tag group formerly known as STFU. Some of you may have seen my sad (read as: funny) story about the masses of people we have offended with our shocking clan name. Regardless, my group has been through a split over empires and two administrative name changes and we've decided to find safe harbor in a larger group rather than rebuild from the ground up.

So here I am, and the three that remain will follow shortly. We have come to check out CDL first, based on our opinions of your members from planetside-universe.

I have two characters, both named Harmfool. The primary is Terran Republic on Emerald, while the secondary is Vanu Sovereignty on Konried. Our outfit specialized in aerial operations, and the founding members came from a combat squadron called Swarm in Jumpgate. In planetside, I am a mosquito pilot and keep both hacking and engineering certed most of the time.

We all use teamspeak regularly, and bring a dedicated server which can be reached at http://www.clanstfu.com:23 with a server password of uranus. We have a web site with database and one php developer (would have two, but Hijinks refuses to work for free ), and in game we work equally well individually, as part of a small group, or as an element of a larger force. We'd like to group up with you guys some time before either side commits to the deal, but so far we are all excited at the prospect of joining CDL.

Ok, I'm going off to vacation in a few hours (4 days in the rain at Bonnaroo), just wanted to say that I enjoyed the gaming session Hijinks and I got in with you guys. I'm not sure if Bod or Firemonkey have also had an opportunity to hook up with CDL for a cap or two, but your outfit seems very competent and like a good place to be.

The only thing that I really want to do before pestering you for admittance is to get into teamspeak with you. It is somewhat difficult to stay with the squad when most of the comms are on voice and I am not. If your TS is in a super-secret undisclosed location, then I would be more than happy to lend the use of my server for the purpose of peaking inside your kimono.

Thanks for letting me on the ts server last night. I have the latest version downloaded now and will try again to see if I cause less static since the upgrade. I had to leave rather abruptly because I hadn't intended on playing at all yesterday (at least until I had all my camping gear unpacked and put away), but I jumped in anyway and ran into Thronebeast almost immediately. Several hours later, I realized that my tent, cooler, and sleeping bag were all still in various states of mildewy goodness and that I was running out of time to get them taken care before dark.

In any case, I really like the way your teamspeak operates. I can't speak for all the STFU guys, but I'd be ready to join CDL once I work out my static issues. I'll be talking to the others about the subject soon.

 

Hmmmm, Dyganth sure sounds familiar, but I can't place you...

I only civ-ripped a couple of people, but I did spend a fair amount of time taking down smurfs and baby eaters in unregulated space... I still don't think you would be one of them, so I'm probably dafe to turn my back on ya

I played JG as Armchair, but my most active time was all during beta 5 and 6. Dyganth... Dyganth... Quant?

P.S. I upgraded my teamspeak, reinstalled my audio drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the ts client, and tried a different headset entirely... the local diagnostic all sounds the same as it did before (with a very soft white noise in the background during push to talk). If it doesn't clear up for you guys when I try again, the last option will be to try another sound card (I'm using the SoundMax digital audio on my mobo, but I have a Phillips and a Soundblaster that I can swap in). If none of that works, I'll just have to keep my mouth shut and listen.

I have talked with both Hijinks and Opposition (Fire Monkey), and we are all ready to make official our applications for membership in CDL. Please send our questionnaires at your earliest convenience. I expect Eastman (Bodhidharma) to make the same decision as soon as he returns from low activity.
